Recently I got a short barreled derringer in 45LC.
I’ve reloaded for a variety of pistols, but new to the 45LC.
I’ve done considerable research (online and reloading manuals), but the vast majority of the references are for longer barreled Colt SAAs and Unique powder.
Since I’m dealing with a much shorter barrel I’m strongly considering a faster burning powder (ie, Red Dot, W231, etc.).
Would like to develop two loads – plinking and carry (but not to hot).
I have a variety of lead bullets 185 grain up to 260 grain.
Does anyone have experience with fast powder / short barrel 45LC loads? OR recommendations to just stick with Unique.
Many Thanks for any inputs.

Re: 45LC Recommendations
Start with light/minimum loads and work it up not exceeding the maximum. With a Derringer you're not looking for good accuracy at long distance. Just try several different loads and test them. If you do it yourself you'll know what works. I recently sold my reloading equipment and my log book went with it so can't give you any numbers. Just follow the book. Does the gun manufacture make any suggestions? Give them a call or email. It's a great round and fun to load.

Roger on the start light and work-up.
Don’t plan on getting any ways near MAX loads, as this guy should be a hand full even with mid-range loads.

How short is the barrel? Everything stated will still apply, just wondering.
