The Catholic church has an ancient tradition of not carrying weapons in church. I don't think it's in the canon law (I actually did look before posting). It's just a tradition.

At one time, even a criminal could not be forcibly removed from a sanctuary.

I am a Catholic, BTW.

A church in Galveston has a red sign outside the door which I read for years as saying "This is a no gun zone. Leave your gun in your car." One day I took a second look. It says gum, not gun. So I guess you can carry there.

:smilelol5: I am placing that on our front door - "No Gum - No Cell Phones - All Guns Welcome."

Seamus, your key word is "tradition". I would say that most churches now have that same tradition since most people do not arm themselves.

Charles L. Cotton wrote:As for equating the CHL with a LEO as it relates to off-limits locations, I agree with one exception. I think court buildings should remain off-limits to CHL’s, but I’ll go one further. I think they should also be off-limits to LEO’s who are not there in their official capacity.
That's consistent with the general idea of keeping CHLs and LEOs on the same footing.

I'd modify your exception, just slightly: make it court rooms, not court "buildings".
