HB1038 (Isett) Committee Substitute - VERY GOOD

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

At the request of Gov. Perry, Rep. Isett's HB1038, which was to reduce initial and renewal CHL fees for seniors, saw a Committee substitute that would lower all CHL fees! I haven't seen the Committee substitute, but I understand the initial fee for everyone would be reduced to $100 and renewals to $50; seniors would still benefit from another 50% reduction.

This is a great development and with the Governor's support, this bill has a chance to pass. We need to thank Gov. Perry and Rep. Isett.

Regards,
Chas.

$100, whether for 4 or 5 years, would get us at least "competitive" with states like Florida ($117 for 5 years).

Yes, Gov. Perry, I hope this one flies!

Like Greybeard I'm Gung-Ho for this one and along with extending the license to five years and employer parking lots this could be a great year for CHL.

I'm quite hopeful, but not so optimistic about the employer parking lots ... That nail may take multiple hits to get driven, if ever. :( I'd love to wrong though and see it passed this session.
