I have DSL and RoadRunner at the house.

Is there anything faster available in Houston?
At a resonable rate?

I haven't been able to find anything at a reasonable rate. I know you can get better performance with stuff like a T3, but who can afford that? I've heard of some other technologies being offered in some other areas, but they haven't made it to Houston yet.

Has Verizon's FIOS made it down there?
That's what I have, and it's wonderful.

Your other options might include higher speed DSL.
I sell and design broadband networks, if you want, you can PM me your address and phone number and I can check what kinds of service you qualify for. You can also go to sites like http://dslreports.com and check that.

Verizon has crews laying fiber in my neighborhood right now, I'm getting FiOS as soon as it's available.
Anyone have their TV service? I'm thinking about dumping Dish for it.

I had their TV service for 30 days. My wife didn't like the menu  , (she's funny about anything NEW), so I had to switch back to Dish Network.

I was amazed at the picture quality vs. Dish. I don't have HD, but I could tell the colors were much more vivid. When you switch channels and get that normal half-second of blackness, there was no snow at all. Great quality and great signal. I'd recommend you get this ASAP. (No I don't work for them. )

Edited to add: Oh yeah, and you won't lose the local weather information when it's pouring down rain and you really need it to make sure a tornado isn't bearing down on you.

I have the FiOS TV as well as the internet. We don't have an HD TV but nevertheless the picture quality is better than anything I had with DirecTV, cable or off the air. And the service is never down. When I had cable years ago, it went down once a month. DirecTV went out with every heavy rain. We have had FiOS TV for about a year and other than when the power has gone out, I think we have had one outage lasting about 5 minutes.

FoIS is not offered in the Houston area

I contacted Covad and it looks like they may have a good solution at a reasonable price.

4425.2 kbps on wireless at work. Pretty neat speed tool.

Tom... why do you have a DSL and Cable connection? Can you have either one turned up to a faster speed?

I work for a Communications Company and we currently offer 1MB, 3MB and 6MB to the home. We are also pushing Fiber to the home in some of our more Urban areas.

I love my FiOS. The TV service is fantastic. I have had the old Primestar, Dish Network, cable and now FiOS. FiOS is BY FAR the best I have had.

I have both DSL and Cable connections because I work from the house and if one is down, I can't bill hours.
