The Biden-Warren Warning
The Demos' 2016 Default Ticket
There has been some chatter in recent weeks that Hillary Clinton isn’t actually the Democratic Party’s intended 2016 nominee. That chatter was amplified last week when the ever-inebriated former House Speaker John Boehner, the quintessential “establishment Republican,” endorsed Donald Trump while maligning Trump’s conservative opponent, Ted Cruz. (No small irony that Boehner’s abject failure as speaker has largely fueled Trump’s populist appeal.)

Amid the fratricidal mayhem, you may have missed this Boehner prediction: “Don’t be shocked if two weeks before the convention, here comes Joe Biden parachuting in and Barack Obama fanning the flames to make it all happen.”

{——SNIP——}

A Biden-Warren ticket, however, would likely slice and dice Trump. Hillary Clinton is a well-known and thoroughly unlikeable candidate, while Biden and Warren have been free from the campaign mudslinging that invariably drives a candidate’s numbers down. Clearing the path for that ticket at the eleventh hour while sending Hillary to the hoosegow would be both brilliant and diabolical on Obama’s part.

{——SNIP——}

A Clinton indictment would play right into the Demos 2016 presidential aspirations, as it would deliver a political deathblow to the Clinton Crime Family while clearing the way for a much more formidable Democrat ticket.

A Biden-Warren ticket will do the trick.

Biden can hold his own with Trump on all those populist issues that Clinton can’t touch. And Warren, as I noted in 2014, is a far smarter and more articulate Leftist than Clinton — or Obama for that matter — and she’ll attract a lot of the Sanders Socialists who are utterly repelled by Clinton’s candidacy.
Etc., etc. It's an intriguing theory, and it is fairly certain that Obama - who detests the Clintons - would allow an indictment to go forward if Biden/Warren would agree to run. After that, it's a mere matter of getting the convention delegates to fall into lockstep - which if this move would guarantee Obama's "legacy", ought to be easy.
I believe exactly this will happen, except for the Hill! goes to jail part.
She'll be pardoned and dispatched off to the Hamptons.
No way she goes to jail. She knows where all the bodies are buried.

:iagree: THIS!! Now that he is the presumptive nominee, I will not publicly say any negative words about Trump. Cruz was my guy, I supported his campaign financially, then the voters spoke and Cruz is headed back to the Senate.

Just a couple of thoughts, then I'll get the popcorn out.

First, and I may be drummed out of the forum, but I've supported Trump from almost the beginning and I will be voting for him come general election. Had Cruz won, I'd have been almost as happy and would have put shoulder to the plow.

I don't think there will be a Trump/Cruz ticket simply because, despite his reputation for insults, Trump was magnanimous about Cruz as a person though he did have some choice words about his political acumen. When it came to talk about Cruz personally, he used words like "great man", "honest" and "honorable". When Cruz spoke of Trump he was acerbic to put it politely, especially at the end. That said, I'm with TAM; Cruz would be an excellent choice for SCOTUS and I would not put it past Trump to do that.

A lot has been said about Trump's conspiracy theory. Let's look at a couple.

Obama's Birth Certificate: All through his campaign and for years into his presidency Obama insisted there was no full birth certificate and presented a "Certificate of Live Birth". Okay, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Born on a bus instead of a hospital or while on a mission trip when out of country but to an American mother, then a Certificate of Live Birth can be plausible. So now we're entering the campaign season for re-election and Trump dips his toe in the water and calls out Obama on his birth right. Suddenly, there is a full and complete birth certificate available to download from the White House web sit (dot gov not dot com...completely different sites). So I went and downloaded one, I was truly happy to put this to bed. Then I hear it's a fake and I open it up in Adobe Illustrator and there were several visual layers that you could turn off and on with a mouse click. You could also see the difference between the scanned part and the digital part. The idiot who forged this thing didn't even have the competency to flatten the layers. TAM will know what I mean. So this thing spins up, starts spreading around and suddenly "THEY GOT HIM!". Bin Laden who had been living in close proximity to a CIA safe house was suddenly found and killed. The birth certificate kerfuffle dissipated. Maybe it was serendipitous, maybe not.

Raphael Cruz in Communist Rally With Oswald Photo: Okay, the gentleman has not been positively identified, sure favors the man though. But let's look at that a minute. He was Cuban born, joined the Cuban Revolution against Batista and for Castro (he claims he didn't know Castro was a communist), bribes his way out of Cuba and ends up a student at UT. He was KNOWN to live in New Orleans by 1967 though Austin ain't that far and communist or not, I can imagine an idealistic young man joining a rally against the discrimination directed at communist Amerikans. Has he changed? You bet. He's a God fearing minister. Which brings me to another side of the discussion.

Trump Changes His Mind: So What. One of the greatest presidents in my lifetime and maybe in the last 150 years was a democrat and an admirer of FDR who started the country on a downward roll. Ronald Reagan. One of the best governors of our great state (I'm not going to argue Gardasil or Imminent Domain) used to be democrat, Rick Perry. He was one of the greatest defenders of our 2A rights and the right to teach our own children though his predecessor is to be reckoned with. Raphael Cruz, a Cuban revolutionary who helped Castro in his coups against Batista, repented and became a preacher.
  • Trump used to be pro-abortion and is now pro-life. If one listens to his explanation of why, it is the most introspective I have ever seen him.
  • He used to be a democrat! So was Reagan and Perry.
  • He's insulting. Maybe but usually in response to others insults.
  • He's a liar? I am not so sure about that. He is most definitely unfiltered and in an era where you rarely hear a politician let fly with what's on his mind.
  • He's inexperienced. In what, politicizing? I say yay. He took a small fortune and turned it into billions and the one thing he has consistently pointed out, both in his campaign and his, ahem, television career is that he didn't get there without surrounding himself with the best and the brightest.
  • He's just saying what he thinks his audience wants to hear. And that's different from all of the others how? He's not the most moral man; Reagan had an affair with a young Nancy Davis while he was married to Jane Wyman. He says he has changed his mind on being pro life and he has flat said he was wrong about gun control. His statements over the last several years have been consistently demonstrative of these more enlightened views. I will also say that his words at least have struck a nerve with me and many others with his views on business in this country, illegal immigration and foreign aid.
I could go on but it would just get tedious and I am sure that there would be plenty here with ready answers to these and any other pros I could come up with. But he has come out in favor of the 2A and I believe him. He has come out on a lot of issues and with specific plans, some possibly naive, concerning stopping foreign aid to countries that obviously hate us, stopping or at least drastically reducing illegal immigration and bringing business back to the united states. He is a jerk, but I think he is a big enough of a jerk to get these things done. I also think he appeals to enough of a cross section to win handily against Clinton or Sanders.

For years I've been told on this forum I need if I vote for X or I will share in the responsibility for Y winning. I always found that tactic repugnant and insulting. Now, some of those same members are saying in effect, "I'd rather not vote than vote for Trump".

I vote my conscience. However and all too often, following my conscience has meant that I have had to hold my nose and pull the lever for the lesser of two evils. Being most discouraged and hopeless I have voted for the lesser evil if for no other reason than to stem the tide until and adequate defense can be rallied.

Regardless of what I think, here we are. Like Trump or don't. Support Trump or don't. Vote your conscience. Even if I couldn't stand Trump, I'd agree with Charles in this as my conscience cannot rest knowing I had a hand in placing Clinton or Sanders in the White House. Vote your conscience. I will vote my conscience and I will vote for Trump.

Dragon - you have the right to believe whomever you want, for whatever reason you want. If you choose to believe vaccines cause autism, you can, doesn't make it true.

Thing is campaign promises are the things of rainbows and unicorn farts. Cruz at least has a record to which his campaign was built upon and why I believe he would have at least tried to get the things done that he said.

Donald has a record, but Trumpkins like to ignore his last 20 yrs of political rants/comments/donations. Can a man change ? Yes - but actions speak louder then rhetoric... Trumps actions, including on the campaign stump have left a lot to be desired in believing he truly holds half the views that was the basis of his campaign.

Does he support 2A ? Maybe, or maybe he just told you want you wanted to hear... Trump changed his mind several times on several answers depending on the political fallout and/or polling. Should the country suddenly have a large enough percentage that wants gun X banned because its scary, I suspect he would do it.

As I've said before, I was a Cruz supporter. That said, I agree with much of your post. Many Cruz supporters are more than happy to accept the media's attacks on Trump as true, while bemoaning their dishonest attacks on Cruz.

I must confess that when I read scathing attacks on Trump by supposedly pro-gun folks, I wonder why they don't just use a Hillary for President image as their avatar. You may not like the boat we're in, but drilling holes in the hull is not an answer.

Reagan, Perry, Rafael Cruz - IF he ever was different than what he is today - all changed their minds decades ago and have track records to prove it. Trump changed his mind last year, last month, possibly yesterday, and no doubt will again tomorrow. And yes he has personally insulted individuals, not least Heidi Cruz -- ergo he is a classless buffoon, certainly not Reagan or Perry caliber.

Nevertheless, that is what we are stuck with, and yes withholding a vote from him is the same as giving one to Hillary or Bernie, because it is a zero sum game in November.

The thing that makes Trump the only choice is that we know what Hillary or Bernie will do. We don't know what Trump will do (I doubt he does either), so there's a chance he might do the right thing, and the 2A and the rest of the Constitution won't immediately be fed into the nearest paper shredder.

Ted Cruz as AG though would be awesome. Those 30 Democrat State Attorneys General who are conspiring to wreck the oil industry and the conservative movement by jailing people for "climate change denial" will certainly turn their effort to the NRA and the gun industry as well and then the right at large. Those AGs should be facing charges for using their power to oppress people's First Amendment rights. I could see Ted Cruz leading a charge like that. Not too many others.

Not a shred of evidence exists that Trump is a second amendment supporter other than him claiming he is a supporter. I am curious is he even an NRA member. Trump is in this for Trump and nothing more. The reason we are in this mess is because voters refuse to hold to their beliefs and convictions and vote for the lesser of two evils. The GOP made this mess let them reap the rewards of what they sowed!

The same could be said about most of the good folks on this forum, right?

Aside from membership in several pro-gun groups, you wouldn't be able to 'prove' that I (or others) were 2A supporters either.

Trump has likely never had a NEED to show support (or not) of the 2nd amendment. In fact, I would think a 'businessman' would make an effort NOT to publicly share his convictions.

NOW that he is immersed in 'politics' (God help him), he pretty much has to. I take him at his word.

That's the problem with a political neophyte, they have no record. We are supposed to trust take their word and trust their honesty.. Yeah, trusting a politician at his word ... That will work out well!!!

Except that he HAS shared his convictions. But none of that is really relevant at this point. Trump is a detestable human being devoid of any class or decorum. He's alienated so many on both sides that it's impossible for him to win in November.

This was the immediate reaction to news of Cruz's withdrawal:

Like I said earlier, we need to make sure that a truly conservative majority is preserved in both houses of Congress if we want this country to survive.

1. At this time, a 3rd party candidate is not going to get enough votes to win the general election

2. Donald Trump claims to be pro-gun. He has two rabidly pro-gun sons, especially Don Junior. He has made billions as a successful businessman and has created many, many jobs for Americans. He has donated to Democrats, which is pretty much a necessity to get anywhere in business as a New Yorker. He has also donated almost twice that much to Republicans.

3. Hillary Clinton is an outspoken gun control advocate who wants to destroy gun rights in the country, by her own admission. Her child is extremely anti-gun as well. The list of Hillary's crimes is a mile long as well, many of which have resulted in the deaths of Americans and American servicemen.

Trump? Maybe he'll turn out to be a liberal. Maybe he'll try to screw us all over. Maybe he'll try to destroy the country. Maybe he'll try to force gun control down our throats. Maybe he'll be against our military...

...But Hillary definitely will.

That makes the choice easy.

It'll be a tough pill to swallow for some people, and some people (including my best friend) put every last egg into the Cruz basket and hated Trump so much (mostly due to clickbait Facebook tripe) that they will refuse to look "foolish" by actually voting for him. But that's a choice they'll have to make.

Regardless, this election cycle has been an eye opener for many and confirms that the GOP is pretty much useless as many of us have known for years.

ETA: On the plus side, at least Trump is a candidate who is willing to say what we want to hear, versus trying to tell us what we should think.

Something to consider. Hopefully, this will help those of us that find voting for Donald distasteful.

I'll throw my opinion in the hat and then step aside.

I was/am a Sen. Cruz fan, and even supported his campaign with monetary donations.

I will not bash Trump, nor do I have to like him. I am fearful he is nothing more than a male Hillary Clinton. I have yet to find any convincing evidence that he's a conservative other than his claims; however one does not have to investigate too hard that his past lends him to a liberal. At the present I believe a vote for Trump is a vote for Clinton since I see them as the same. I am fearful that once elected, it will be the biggest "gotcha" moment as he pulls the rug out of the feet of his supporters.

With all that being said, I cannot and will not vote for Clinton. So In November I'll get "Drunk and Vote for Trump", so at least I can blame it on the booze.
My wife says I'm a gun snob.... I'm okay with that.

Charles L. Cotton wrote:As I've said before, I was a Cruz supporter.

Chas.
Respectfully, I, and I think a few others of us, have come to view this whole "vote for the least offensive candidate who can win" game as drilling holes in the hull as well.
