I'm in a love/hate relationship with the DPS website. I can't wait to check it daily and then I hate it when there isn't a change.
If it makes you feel any better I sent mine on 6/7 and my status hasn't updated AT ALL....grrrr

I have a lot of compassion for someone who turns 21, immediately applies for their CHL, and then gets impatient because it takes so long.
There are also a lot of people who have been eligible for any number of years, never bothered pursuing a CHL, suddenly wake up and decide they want to apply, and get impatient because it is taking so long. Not quite so compassionate, when they could have already had their CHL a long time ago if they'd bothered to apply then.

For something that shouldn't require a permit in the first place, the wait is excessive even at its most reasonable level...

Will be interesting to gauge...
I just mailed off my paperwork today, so, I cant give an answer to the poll yet.
I have ZERO issues with records (maybe a speeding ticket from 10 years ago,which shouldnt matter).... so, we will see if it goes faster or not.
From all of the reading I have done, it looks like its totally random anyways.

I've been posting this, but I'll keep doing it, as I think it's important. I have successfully submitted all documentation electronically.
Seems to speed up the first status change but the background review looks to still be the same painful pace.

I considered that online submission.... And maybe should have done it.
Just read how everyone mailed it and figured I would follow suit.

I submitted them because there was a link. Then I started reading forums, I guess they just started because some had been rejected. I started to worry, then the status changed. As a precaution, I sent an email and the response was "all documents received and updated, no further documentation needed at this time."

Congrats! Mine just went to mailed this morning. Now if it can just make it by Friday I can Wally Walk in Florida! Probably won't land in mailbox until Saturday or Monday is my guess. Still a nice way to end a vacation.

Ouch! Some of us are slow at waking up.
Better late than never! I couldn't do it when it first came around due to the very high cost of the training class plus the application fee. Couldn't afford it with the youngsters. Now I am down to 2 and the cost is more affordable...plus the Groupon sealed the deal. My husband had his already. I may be a little impatient but I know it will eventually arrive.

I was pleased that my background check only took 13 working days......4 days later, yesterday, status changed to Mailed
