For starters. I was planning on doing this nearly 3 years ago (on 02/22/2014 which is my birthday). I submitted the application and paid the fee and fully intended to get into a course and fingerprinted before the 12 months was up....didn't happen.

When I attempted to do a new application back in October of this year I was not able to because it still showed my old application to be on file.

I emailed the RSD to ask what I was doing wrong and why I could not submit a new application. I was told, and I'm paraphrasing, "Oh we're just still waiting on your fingerprints and signed CHL-100". This left me with the impression my old application was still valid after nearly 3 years on file. So I went and had my fingerprints taken and of course went through a conceal carry course and passed. I scanned in my CHL-100 and waited a day.

I remembered that the old application would have an old address and called to ask if my LTC or (God forbid) the letter requesting supporting documents would be sent to the address on the application or on my current valid Driver's License. The lady I spoke with told me, oh no, your application is way too old and you'll need to do a new one and pay the fee. Oh and those fingerprints you sent in are for the old application so you'll need to redo those as well. :banghead:

That said...

CHL-100 Submitted: 11/07/16
New Application Submitted: 11/10/16
Fingerprints Submitted: 11/11/16

The status website has not updated whatsoever since informing me the application was submitted.
I have not received any letter in the mail asking for supplemental supporting documentation.

Emailing the RSD just resulted in a cookie cutter response about how it's important to wait because they are allowed 60 days for new applicants or up to 180 days after receipt of any other documents they require. No real update whatsoever on my application.

11/19 - LTC class and Range Certification
11/21 - Application filed online with DPS
11/22 - Fingerprinting
11/22 - Submitted all documents electronically
11/22 - Received 'receipt' notification from DPS
The wait begins
as of 12/14 my fingerprints are under review, my background check is under review.

Is this 'under review' status of my prints something to be concerned about? Should I call them?

Thanks,
Chris

I found out something interesting when i spoke with the lady in the Handgun Licensing division. She looked up my TX drivers license number, and said that my application didn't go into 'review' until December 6th, but all of my paperwork was submitted on November 22nd. So I've been 'counting down' from the November date, which now with this information I have to start my countdown for approval from the 6th of December. Wonky stuff huh? Anyhow, with this new info I'm certain it will be after Christmas, most likely after New Years before I receive anything. The water on the stove will just sit there, I'm not going to watch it anymore until after the holidays!
 :yawn

Speaking of Holidays, happy Holidays and Happy new year to all my gun toting 2nd amendment upholding Texans out there.

Did you take your LTC at Guns Plus by chance? Lol. Doubt that has anything to do with it but you never know.

From what I've seen on my side you have just begun the wait. I read all the stories on here. Everyone watches that pot and it rarely boils until you're sick of staring at it. Not expecting mine until after the new year, we will see what happens. I do hope it goes fast for you! Happy new year!

Hello everyone I'm new to this forum but I wanted to share my time line.
10/22/16-proficiency course completed

Now I hope I receive it by tomorrow but more realistically I will receive it on Tuesday 01/3/17. I was surprised that it was all completed so quick, especially during the holidays! Anyway, hopefully every one had a great and safe holidays!
