Just Renewed - class not needed?

#1

Post by LedJedi »

So, i've had a CHL for maybe about 10 years now at this point. My renewal is up at the end of Jan and I've been dragging my feet (hope I didn't wait too long!!) I log on to the state website to renew and pay the fee and they send me a checklist saying they'll resubmit my prints and photo and contact me if there are any issues, but there is NO mention anywhere of taking a class and having to send in the paperwork from that. Is that not a thing anymore? It's Literally the only thing on the checklist they gave me is "TxDPS will attempt to use passport photo..." Am I good to go assuming this stuff clears or do i need to sign up for a renewal class?

I thought they reduced it to just the range only for renewals. Mine is ready for renewal now so if I dont have to spend extra money on the class, that is a bonus.

:iagree:

No more re-qual....class or proficiency.

BUT!

Laws have changed significantly since you attended, and ignorance is no excuse...so they say. Make sure you have brought yourself up to speed on all of the changes. (e.g. no more NSA / SA, open carry, open carry holster requirements, 30.07 signs, campus carry details, etc.)

Just sayin'............

very true.

I'm up to speed on most of that, but can you point me to a comprehensive list of current guidelines so I can make sure?
