What did they tell you? Did they just say "we have 60 days"?

Confirmation of everything received 3/29.

And I'm still waiting as well in the background check. Let me know if you get any updates since we are a day apart.
Thanks.

They stated that there is 8 business weeks to process the application and they will let me know if they need anything else from me. They already said they have everything from me at this time.

Good news. I check the status every day, and shortly after I wrote the above response and then checked the status..

Background Check : Completed
License To Carry A Handgun : Print Pending

At least for me, it took 45 business days or 63 calendar days to complete the background check.

I submitted everything on 4/13, including dispositions for long past criminal cases. It took 5 business days for me to get status bars, and another 5 business days for my background check to clear. I have been print pending since sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning 4/27 - 4/28. If I get my card Monday that will be 11 business days that it took mine. So there does not seem to be any Rhyme or Reason or exact timeline.

I'm sure it has something to do with information provided, criminal background, how common or uncommon your name might be, and how quickly they get around to your application. I'm sure all of those things go into how long it takes. There does not really seem to be any kind of timeline.

Suppose a person has very old felony, but has had his/her rights restored by the governor, including the right to own firearms. Any idea how long the wait will be on the fingerprint/background check? All paperwork showing these rights have been restored was submitted with the application.

Anyone with any thoughts or knowledge, please chime in...

The long past criminal cases you spoke of, were the felony convictions?

No, I have 3 misdemeanors. 1 of which was outright dismissed. But never had any felonies.

Strange Email from DPS

#44

Post by go_getta357 »

I sent an email inquiring about the status of my license. I received an email back this morning from someone at DPS stating that they didn’t need anymore information from me and that should just let the application continue to process. But, in the email it had concealed handgun license number. But when I check the status, still says background and pingerprints pending. Could that be my actual license number and system just hasn’t updated, or is it just the application number but still processing?

your application number probably turns into your license number if you pass the BG check. dont quote me on it but it would make sense.
