I've learned some of the most reliable information here regarding Texas Laws and real life application.WildBill wrote: Stay on the forum and read and ask questions.
This is the best place to learn and is much easier than reading a book of rules and laws.

Re: Lame-man's terms (ltc handbook trsnslation)
In each of my classes, I show a slide of the actual wording of the law, then explain what it means in real life. I always say "only a lawyer, or a politician, or both could write things that sound like this."

God and the soldier we adore,
In times of danger, not before.
The danger gone, the trouble righted,
God's forgotten, the soldier slighted.
In times of danger, not before.
The danger gone, the trouble righted,
God's forgotten, the soldier slighted.

I did have a question. Now that open vary is legal, what are the provisionsame for carrying in your car? Does the gun have to be in a holster? Can I keep it on my dash board?

Thank you for that correction...AJSully421 wrote:Layman (noun)
: a person who is not a member of a particular profession
: a person who belongs to a religion but is not a priest, minister, etc.
The word that you are looking for is "Layman" meaning someone who is not an expert.
Not someone who cannot walk.

This one is to the FAQ page; click on"Laws that relate to carrying a handgun", & it will jump to that section of the FAQs.

And this one takes you to the "New Laws" section, where in layman's terms they explain what each of the newly (at the time it was posted, following each legislative session) laws mean. As the Legislature convenes every odd-numbered year, this is a good place to bookmark & understand any changes/updates (next should be Sept 2017).
