That's true but some only own one or two and others own almost enough.

So, probably gun ownership in Texas is around 800%. :mrgreen:

OK, I know we don't register them here, I'm an FFL and CHL instructor. I have to let the feds know every time someone purchases a firearm and tell the state about everyone taking a CHL class from me. Current stats are not on the DPS website, and I thought I saw an article in the Austin UnAmerican Statesman about 4-6 months ago, however try as I might I can find no statistics anywhere on line...

...the state would have no way to compile stats on gun ownership...and the feds tell us they don't keep the background check info gathered under Brady...so they "don't" either...you MIGHT get them to divulge how many NICS checks were called in in Texas, but that's not accurate...may have been pawn redemptions or transfers from other residents...or multiple sales...
...don't wish too loudly for statistics around bureaucrats...they could invent a whole new division of government just to supply them...

...if it's wives asking...the answer is "not enough"...

Austin UnAmerican Statesman ..

I recall article/charts about per-county 2011 or 2010 CHLs numbers ... I think I saw a link in the forum about it if back then that's the one... I probably can't think what search term to find it by until much much more coffee

Maybe I'm thinking of the Texas Liberal, err I mean Texas Tribune
2009
Texas Concealed Handgun Licenses by county

Interactive map
http://www.texastribune.org/library/dat ... ense-maps/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I wish the Trib would make an updated interactive map. I'm sure my County numbers quadrupled since 2009.

Out of curiosity, I compared Red/Blue Republican/Democrat 2008 Counties with % CHL Counties in 2009

Interesting comparison
Dems are arming up?
Red/Blue click TX for counties
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/files/spec ... ITE=KFDMTV" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and Trib chl map
http://www.texastribune.org/library/dat ... ense-maps/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Far South Tx, El Paso, Around Travis/Williamson County/Austin .. Bexar County/San Antonio ... Harris County/Houston
They voted for Obama, then got a CHL ?

The CHL-8 requires the students name, ID or Drivers License number and pass or fail grades of the proficiency and written exam. I think that betewwn the Texas Trib map and the DPS website I can put together in info I am looking for. I just wish it were more current...

Exactly what information are you trying to find? The DPS information seems to be released annually so it is always going to be "out of date".
