A federal judge has ruled that a U.S. Postal Service regulation barring firearms in its parking lots violates the Second Amendment.....

But Senior U.S. District Judge Richard Matsch said the Postal Service has a right to bar Tab Bonidy, who filed the lawsuit, from carrying his gun into the Post Office building itself.

That is the way that I read it but I'm not a lawyer. Plus, I'm not sure that all of the Federal types get all of the memos.

I'm very happy with my dry cleaner store front with a postal counter. This ruling isn't going to entice me back to the full blown USPS buildings.

That is the way that I read it but I'm not a lawyer. Plus, I'm not sure that all of the Federal types get all of the memos.

I do the same -- there's a UPS store a few doors down from my grocery store, and it's not posted. It's more conveniently located than the post office anyway.

The way I see it you can lock your firearm in your vehicle in the parking lot of the post office I don't think this has any bearing on other federal property. Think of the PO as a school.

Prior to this decision, not if it is on federal property.

However, look for Eric Holder's JD to vigorously appeal this case. They don't want privately owned guns anywhere near a government owned property because they fear how badly they have angered people.

Prior to this decision, my biggest concern was driving to the post office parking lot, disarming in my car and the act, even under the cover of a towel, being caught on the Post Office surveillance tapes. It isn't clear on one of the local post office buildings whether the lot is government property or not, since it is shared with businesses. If they really wanted to enforce that, a sign saying "government property" needs to be posted where the parking lot exits to the road. But I have no desire to be a Federal test case over the parking lot ownership question.

There is also no doubt in my mind that the Federal DOJ is looking to make an example out of someone over guns after the Congressional loss on gun control earlier this year. It would just be my luck to give them that "opportunity."
