Face of Texas CHL License changed?

#1

Post by fwdunbar88 »

Hi,

I recently submitted an address change for my CHL and very quickly rec'd the updated license, however I noticed that the new license does NOT include a "Category:" field. My previous license did and indicated it was good for semi-automatic weapons ("SA"). My initial CHL was issued in 2013 so I was curious if the removal of "Category" was something that changed for 2014 or if there is an issue/mistake with my CHL I should report. I have visited the state website at http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/RSD/CHL/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to see if it mentioned the change but couldn't find it.

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

Thanks in advance for the help...

Category was abolished in 2013 but it took a while for DPS to update the physical license.

It's as easy as C-F-G.

I renewed my license in February (received the new license in March) and the new one still has the category on it.

That means this is a very recent change. We knew it was coming, but I, at least, had no idea when. They must've used up all the old license forms.

Really recent; I submitted my renewal in April and got my new license in the beginning of May and my new license still has the category section on it.

I got a replacement two weeks ago for a lost license and it had "Veteran" on the top and no category. A friend thinks its a scheme to track every vet and eventually brand as too dangerous to carry a gun due to PTSD. Since I never served in combat, I'm not sure what would cause PTSD.

A picture of Rosey O'Donnel, Hillary Clinton, or Nancy Pelosi severely traumatizes me.
