For those that may be interested (and forgot), Ohio now recognizes the Texas CHL (as of today)!

Texas also recognized Ohio as of today as well.
Ohio Attorney General, Mike DeWine, announced today he had signed a reciprocity agreement with Texas.

I haven't been up that way in several years now and don't know when or if I'll be headed back up there. Better late than never.

Re: Ohio recognizes TX CHL
Great news! Used to go to OH every summer with kids and would stop at the Kentucky state line and put the gun in the back of the car. Years ago I'd e-mailed both TX and OH AGs and had gotten replies of "working on it but doubtful." Their carry laws were a bit different and odd but they changed them over the years.

Re: Ohio recognizes TX CHL
pass through there every summer - one less state to worry about on the trip
"no officer I dont have a handgun in the car during this 4000 mile trip, that would be illegal during my short stay, passing through your backward state. "
There were 4 states that was accurate
now down to 3 ...

I'll be passing through there this June as well. This is very good news.
I have went thru West Virginia in the past to get into PA, but I'd rather go thru OH. If only Maryland would grow up and become a gun friendly state I'd go that way!

Re: Ohio recognizes TX CHL
Just a note of caution, I have still not been able to read the actual reciprocity agreement with Texas, as it is not posted on either the Texas DPS or the Ohio Attorney General websites.
http://dps.texas.gov/RSD/CHL/Legal/Reci ... /index.htm#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/File ... Agreements" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
However, I have read the new reciprocity agreement between Ohio and Wisconsin, where Wisconsin explicitly limits the reciprocity to Ohio licenses issued or renewed after March 23, 2015. If Texas places a similar limit, that will create a situation where Ohio people will hear that there is Texas reciprocity and potentially find themselves carrying on a license that is not recognized.
I would not suggest that any Ohioan carry here until they have read the actual reciprocity agreement and confirmed they are good to go. I would also keep a printed copy with my during any visit to Texas.
The reverse situation is not a worry. Any Texan can carry in Ohio right now, even without seeing a reciprocity agreement. The Ohio law change states Ohio will automatically honor all concealed carry licenses from any state.

Re: Ohio recognizes TX CHL
Reciprocity or not, Ohio Revised Code 109.69(B)(3) is published (color added by me to summarize):
The Ohio.pdf doc still has a note at the top about the lack of a publicly posted reciprocity agreement. But the law says "regardless of whether the other license-issuing state has entered into a reciprocity agreement."
I'm hoping other sites update to show this, and I'm hoping reciprocity is officially announced, but that section above combined with the US States My State Honors document at handgunlaw.us appears to clear us to carry in Ohio.Ohio Revised Code 109.69(B)(3) wrote: If, on or after the effective date of this amendment, a person who is not a resident of this state has a valid concealed handgun license that was issued by another license-issuing state, regardless of whether the other license-issuing state has entered into a reciprocity agreement with the attorney general under division (A)(1) of this section, and the person is temporarily in this state, during the time that the person is temporarily in this state the license issued by the other license-issuing state shall be recognized in this state, shall be accepted and valid in this state, and grants the person the same right to carry a concealed handgun in this state as a person who was issued a concealed handgun license under section 2923.125 of the Revised Code.
...
Amended by 130th General Assembly File No. TBD, HB 234, §1, eff. 3/23/2015.
I have emailed handgunlaw.us to ask them to clarify the difference between the Ohio.pdf doc (also updated 3/25) and the doc I linked and quoted.US States My State Honors wrote:Last Updated: March 25, 2015

Ohio Honors any License/Permit issued by any other State

Great. The next time I will be in Ohio will be the first time I will be in Ohio... and hopefully the last time I will be in Ohio.
