Renewal coming up - fee reduction question

#1

Post by JimmyD »

Hi,

I just got my CHL renewal notice in the mail. It expires October 2017. I know there is a bill in the works to get the CHL (or LTC) fees reduced. Question - what are the chances this will become effective before my renewal date? I'm trying to decide if I should pay the current price or wait it out until the fee is reduced, assuming it will be.

Thanks!

Should know if it passes or not in a few weeks. June 1 at the latest.

Not following it closely enough to know if it takes effect immediately or at a delayed date (like campus carry had compared to OC even though both happened in the same session).

I think (if it passes) it takes effect 9/1/2017.

Thanks for the replies. To be on the safe side, I'll probably just go ahead and renew now.

Mine expires in October as well. Being in the category of "Old Geezer", the cost is going to be the same regardless so I did mine on the 14th. Just checked and it's pending print. That's quick enough!!

Yeah, I forgot renewals were only $70. I was thinking $140. I just went ahead and renewed. . Hopefully they can still use my existing fingerprints and photo. I think they are 10 years old. I more or less look the same so hopefully it will go through as is.

Now seems to be the time to renew without much of a wait. Mine was due in September but I sent it in early. Received my new license 7 days later.
