Hilton Galveston LTC friendly?

#1

Post by flowrie »

Taking family on a business trip with me, staying at Hilton Galveston.
Did not see any postings on the map (no 30.06 or 30.07 ).
Searched forum, nothing specific.
Anyone been there recently?

You could call them and ask them...

Texas law..
Texas hotel owners and operators should also be aware that Texas law further requires that any policy prohibiting a guest’s right to bring firearms onto a hotel premises be disclosed in the terms and conditions of guest reservations on the hotel’s website at the time a reservation is initially booked. Under the Texas Occupations Code § 2155.103 (2015), if a guest makes a reservation by telephone, the hotel’s subsequent written reservation confirmation must include information about how guests may access and review the hotel’s applicable gun policy.

The fine is only $100 though..

I like your logo. I was in 4/133FA, 49AD.

Hilton HQ has stated they don't want guns. http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/showt ... y-Postings

Some Texas Hiltons post notices on the policies page of their web site. For example, Hilton Post Oak in Houston:
http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/texas/ ... icies.html

The Hilton Galveston Island Resort policy page does not mention firearms:
http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/texas/ ... icies.html

When I stay in a Texas hotel, the first place I look is Texas3006.com, then the hotel's policy page on their website.

If still in doubt, I might call and ask if I really wanted to stay there. Usually, I just pick a place that I know likes me and my pistol.

You are legal to carry to and from your room, regardless of any signage. So the only real problem would be if you want to eat at the hotel or something. Fortunately, Galveston has a lot of great restaurants that are not located in the Hilton.

The Hilton is owned by the same guy that owns many of the finer restaurants, Landry's otherwise known as a Tilman Fertitta. None of his Texas Establishments are posted 30.06/07 The only posted places on the Island that I know of are the courthouses and the Railroad Museum.

I didn't know that. Yes, if it's owned by Tillman, it likely is not posted. He doesn't even have a posting on his casino in Louisiana.

Does he still have an invalid plaque on the side of the walkway as enter Pleasure Pier? I think the wording was wrong before and unless he updated it post 1/1/2016 it would be even more wrong now. Since it is a plaque, it's doubtful that it would have been updated.

I'm not sure what that sign was about. But it's not conspicuous to those who enter, and the pier is ap[parently still owned by the city. Someone may have stolen it by now because it was probably made of bronze and it is Galveston after all

We always hit Salas's on the sea wall. Good Mexican food, nice people. No hairs in my food before...

Dang I want to take a trip. Should be getting cranked up for the summer this weekend. Umbrellas out on Stewart Beach!

How is the Hilton otherwise? We're looking at going down there soon as well, but not sure if we'll stay at the usual spots...

I have been Diamond for over 10 years, so that means I stay in lots of Hiltons, due to my work. Not bragging, just saying I know the Hilton brand pretty well.
Staff is good.
Rooms are old and small but have been updated.
Security not good, back and side doors not secure except from midnight to 6am.
Pool is very nice, although I did not use it, wife and kids did.
Breakfast buffet just so so, could have been better.
Overall it is OK. I actually prefer Doubletrees ( another Hilton brand), they have great cookies!
