Dallas has a new police chief. Anyone know about her 2a stance?

#1

Post by nitrogen »

Hello! Long time, no post!

Apparently, Dallas now has a new police chief, Ulysha Renee Hall. She comes as deputy police chief from Detroit.

I know nothing about her, and didn't see any real info online about her. Anyone have any good (or bad) news to share?

She has a LinkedIn profile which chronicles her rise in the Detroit PD.
She has an impressive educational background - two Master's degrees.
Her father, a police officer, was murdered on the job 45 years ago.
The case was never solved.

Nothing about 2A stance, but that is not surprising. If anyone has anything
to say about that subject, it would most likely not be a deputy chief.
I can not find any news stories about her other than the stories about
her pick for the Dallas position. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Dallas is a democrat town, if that makes a difference in whom they select for chief. I note that Sherrif Joe Arpaio wasn't in the running.

The one thing I can offer is, that the current Detroit PD chief previously served as chief in Portland, ME.

When he arrived in Maine, he was quite anti-gun. I'm quite close to the pro-2A community in Maine, and I can tell you that a number of people were very active in things like open-carry community service projects to desensitize the community (and LEO) in a variety of municipalities, especially Portland.

When said chief moved from Portland to Detroit, he became a staunch advocate of carry permits and civilian ownership of firearms. Hopefully the new Dallas chief observed the Detroit experience and absorbed some of it.
I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal

I note that Michigan's CC laws are similar to ours, so she should at least be used to that, and had to deal with it.

Her personal 2A views are of little consequence. She will be employed by the mayor & city council, so she'll either toe the party line or have a very short tenure.

:iagree:

Her personal views on the 2A, don't matter. She is required to follow State law. I don't foresee a whole lot of issues regarding carrying in Dallas Any where I have gone, there have been no problems. I think they have much bigger issues, to deal with, mainly hiring and keeping police officers. JMHO

The police union used football coach speak when a rep said "we don't have a lot of tape on her". What's disturbing is that activist Dominique Alexander, who organized the BLM march where the five Dallas officers were ambushed and killed, was named as one of 56 members of a search panel.

I have no doubt, politics, played a big role in the decision. However, I am willing to give the new DPD chief the benefit of doubt, until I have more info. For the most part, because I don't live in Dallas, no matter what her actions portray, it won't effect me directly, but as a citizen of Texas, if she begins to inact the type of policies, that almost doomed Detroit, I will have a definite opinion, and won't hesitate to express it.
Just in case, I have not been forthcoming in any of my previous posts. :smilelol5:

It's ashamed that DPD has no one in the department that could do the job of chief. That tells me that either DPD had a bunch of 2nd rate officers or else politics over ruled selecting one of the good officers of DPD for the job.

You need to note that the City Manager is an outsider, and prefers to hire from outside.

Maybe it is time for the citizens of Dallas to do something about that Broadnax. It would be a very EASY campaign slogan for anyone interested in campaigning against Mike Rawlings......

"Promote From Within!"

"Texans FOR Texans!"

"Are you ASHAMED of Texans? HIRE Texans!"

"Hiring an outsider to manage Dallas is like hiring a New York banker to manage your cattle."

Etc, etc., etc.
