Am I eligible for CHL

#1

Post by jlg333 »

I recently completed my deffered adjudication probation for a class A misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge. Can I acquire my CHL? I already paid and took the class, I don't want to lose out on another 140... I saw that some deffered adjudications are okay to have but I can't find the specific list.

So my certificate is no good then? Is there an expiration date? Also if I expunge it will that make me eligible?

Your certificate is good for 2 Years. if you expunged the charge or got an order of non-disclosure you’d be ok. I’m assuming this was in Texas.

Yes in Texas, so my best bet for now is to apply for a FL non resident?

Getting it expunged should make you eligible for a Texas CHL and might help in job searches.

You can try Florida but be aware of some possible reasons for Ineligibility.
* A conviction for violation of controlled substance laws or multiple arrests for such offenses.
* A record of drug or alcohol abuse.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

It's a deffered adjudication so not technically a conviction. I know that as far as Texas goes, they see deffered adjudications as a conviction. Does Florida do this as well? And it's my only charge ever, this is the only thing on my record.

Get an Arizona while you see if you can get it expunged. They’ll take you texas chl class as proof of training.
4/13/1996 Completed CHL Class, 4/16/1996 Fingerprints, Affidavits, and Application Mailed, 10/4/1996 Received CHL, renewed 1998, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2016...). "ATF... Uhhh...heh...heh....Alcohol, tobacco, and GUNS!! Cool!!!!"
