The worst thing about a badge is that it tends to promote the idea that only law enforcement (i.e. people with badges) should be armed, which I find offensive.

Instead of a badge how about a ring? Somewhere between a class ring and a super bowl ring maybe. Or a bracelet, similar to a medical alert bracelet or a friendship bracelet... or a lapel pin or for the girls, a pendant!

You cannot have that Texas State Seal >>> or in this case, the State Arms" on a BADGE if you aren't a Police Officer or employed by the State ...
(I once saw a Licensed Texas Private Investigator Company get in trouble and have to replace all their badges)
"Private use of the state seal, including the state arms and reverse of the state seal, is regulated by law."
State Arms

Yes. Something like this.

How would that be “impersonating a police officer”? Again, this is only if you NEVER use the terms “Police” or “law enforcement” when referring to yourself.

I can only figure that the reason for wearing a LTC badge would be for someone to notice. I say it would be more noticeable if instead of the badge they wear a Sash. Of course the Sash would have to be worn right shoulder to left hip or the other way around if you are left handed. The addition of a Tiara would make you even more noticeable. HMMMMM I bet you could get a discount if you bought all three. :tiphat:

The newly added verbiage regarding volunteer security services (at a church) includes a section that states

(c) While providing volunteer security services under Subsection (b), a person may not wear a uniform or badge that:
(1) contains the word "security"; or
(2) gives the person the appearance of being a peace officer, personal protection officer, or security officer.

I agree with others who've responded... wearing a badge serves no good purpose other than to give the appearance of being an officer.

In lieu of a badge, cape or tiara, how about just OC?

TexasAggLTC wrote:Ok, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about this. I know a lot of people when talking about LTC Badges jump to the conclusion that you would be arrested for “impersonating a police officer”, but I don’t understand that logic if you have a badge that clearly says “Texas LTC License”, or something to that nature, and only verbally refer to it as a “Texas License to carry a handgun”.

If you never use the words “police” or “Law Enforcement” when speaking about your badge, gun, or self, how can you be impersonating a police officer?

I would understand if you had a badge that said “Police” or you were wearing a shirt that said “Police” or you verbally said “Police”....
lol...wait...you are serious?

Debate?

There's no debate!

You have an LTC and carry.

That's it!

You are NOT law enforcement.

Why on earth would you even consider an LTC badge?...if in fact you are considering it and I hope you aren't because if you do, those that think LTCers are some sort of self appointed vigilante morons will have no doubt, because if you carry with a badge, you've proven it - you ARE a vigilante moron.

Now, get off my lawn!
