Inexpensive Day Lease 4 Dove Hunting?

#1

Post by txcshooter »

Does anyone know of an inexpensive day lease for dove hunting near San Antonio? I remember when I was younger, about 15 years ago, my dad and I went for like $10-15/gun/day. I was online searching today and the cheapest was $60/gun/day. Prices have sure gone up! :shock:

Later this month, the TPWD should have the new public hunting booklets posted on line.

http://archive.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/hunt/public/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There is a separate booklet for dove hunts. See what tracts are available in your area. Scouting isn't allowed, but maybe you can evaluate from the road.

Only if you think it shows promise, would you need to buy the $48 permit.

Thanks Mike. Is that $48 besides cost of the hunting license with dove stamp?

Yes, the $48 only covers the public hunting permit.

To be perfectly honest, in the southeast part of the state, the opportunities are dismal.

I'm hoping the new public hunting booklets show up onine when the news licenses go on sale on the 15th.

I wouldn't do it unless it appears some of the tracts are near and have promise.

The new booklet is available for download or online viewing. It now includes the dove tracts.

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/hu ... o_cc.phtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Page 117 lists the 34 dove tracts in the San Antonio region. Later pages show maps by tract number.

Worth a look, anyway.

Because a tract has dove hunting does NOT mean there are doves.

Are you looking for just yourself? I'm on a lease and I can bring a guest anytime after the first weekend after the opener. It's right outside 410, near the Toyota plant.

I'll bring ya for a box of ammo. :lol:

I really appreciate that PB, but its for my dad and I. We really don't know if we're gonna be able to go yet, just wanted to get ready incase there is a window of opportunity. (opportunity meaning schedules and finances lining up. :lol: )

Guess what guys?! I found out yesterday that I won a dove hunt for two in Atascosa County! :woohoo :anamatedbanana :chldancing The drawing was on facebook through Compadre Dove Hunts for the opening day only in the south zone. They had a drawing for each county that they are in. I really didn't think I was gonna win. :lol:
