This looks like the best place to post this, although I didn't shoot it. Hunters though might find it uiseful infoprmation that these kitty cats exist.
I saw this big cat stalking some deer while in Bourne. It had a long bushy tail, 2-3 ft high at the shoulders 4 5 foot long body 50 to 80 lbs. Was near the highway and comercial area. Does anybody know what this is?

Looks to be a feral Felis Catus spotted by a myopic observer leading to an error in prospective.

Felinus Domesticus Unusualus - aka big Felis catus :biggrinjester:
I don't know the species of the dry stalks (weed) but I'm familiar with it at our lease near Boerne and judging by the height this cat is within normal house cat size.

Wow you actually saw one of these? And managed to get a photo?
Forward your picture immediately to the Smithsonian so they can send a team down to investigate.

I'm just glad you didn't fall victim to this obviously dangerous predator. I would make sure anything smaller than a full grown Hereford bull was safely brought into the house, for the night!

There are definitely large cats in Texas. It's their habitat. Years ago I used to commute to Waco on Highway 84. Twice, right at the McLennan/Limestone County line, I saw a bobcat trot across the highway.

I don't think bobcats get too big but there are larger species of cat out there, too, in the hill country and Central Texas. One of our local bankers had some species of cat mounted in his office. it was probably two feet tall at the shoulder, and had been taken near Groesbeck as I recall.

Like coyotes, they won't bother you. Your chickens, not so untroubled.
