To put things in perspective, the national news and the president does not equate all deaths equally.

I think it was all the fault of those dirty, high-capacity vehicles. Why would anyone need a vehicle capable of carrying more than four people, anyway? I think that everyone who wants to have one of those high-capacity vehicles should be forced to get a government permit to own one...

The comments in this thread make me very sad and very angry. THIRTEEN people were killed and all ya'll can do is joke. This is a very low day for the Texas CHL Forum.

I can't carry the weight of the whole world on my shoulders. I have enough to do to feel for them when bad stuff happens to folks I know. Sorry my comment rubbed you the wrong way.

Apology accepted. It was the whole tone of the thread that got to me. We don't have to cry and wring our hands but show some concern for those who were killed. They didn't deserve to die like they did. There were two little girls among the dead.

13 people died and 10 injured not because of us but because of the driver violating the law. That truck just didn't veer off the road for no reason. All those people got into that truck and took their chances. 23 people in a pickup truck, the driver moving at high speed and I will bet there was booze involved.

When you buy a ticket on the back is a small disclaimer: enter at your own risk as they did. I feel bad for them but it wasn’t my stupidity that put them in their situation in the first place. Common sense needs to be applied once in a while

I felt bad until I read INS was involved. So, until I find out if they were legals, I don't really care. Harsh, I know.

The first thing that came to mind was a bunch of country kids. This was something I did when I was a teen.

Most likely because these were not Legal Citizens. If this is in fact the case, it would open up a whole nuther can of worms for the President. Thus their silence.

One thing that is not mentioned is the load capacity of a pickup truck. Figure 23 people at 100 lbs each = 2300 lbs of cargo. That truck is going to handle quite differently than one carrying two passengers.
