Here's another one ya just can't make up.
The New York state Director of Homeland Security is giving a presentation to foreign police officers in Albany NY in October, when he pulls out his pistol, and uses its laser as a laser pointer. There's some question whether he covered people with the muzzle of his weapon or not.
Geeze - can't they afford a simple laser pointer for these higher ups?

A logical extension of using a taclight on a pistol for general illumination.
Re: Forget your laser pointer? Use your gun! NOT
I had an instructor do this once... except it was with an issued taser.
I was caught off guard, but not at all offended... in fact, I considered it rather resourceful.
Now, if it was a pistol, I would be questioning his judgement. Mine never leaves its holster unless shooting or appropriate handling/cleaning.

I have no words....well, I do, but they would violate forum rules. And this is one of the "professionals" who would probably claim that guns in the hands of citizens are bad because we don't know what we are doing. This is what happens when you give an elitist politician type, rather than a true professional, the title of a chief LEO. No more sense of firearms etiquette than many at gun shows or in stores. Unloaded or not, IT DOESN'T MATTER you idiot.

Re: Forget your laser pointer? Use your gun! NOT
Given the NY establishment's hysterical fear of firearms in general and handguns in particular (remember, this is the land of the 12 or 13 lb glock trigger), I have little doubt it was unloaded -- he probably only loads it when the Governor declares a state of emergency or something. Instead of open-carry or concealed carry, he uses "Barney-carry."RoyGBiv wrote:Unloaded...? I bet..![]()

I don't know if I would have followed through, but my gut reaction to being swept by this clown would be to disarm him. What a jerk.
