I find it refreshing that you use the word "disproves". The essence of science is the disproving of hypotheses. A hypothesis that has been tested and failed to be disproved is presumed, but not proven, to be correct.

The issue with Global Warming (oops, science has disproved that one), I mean Climate Change, is that there has never been a period in the 4 billion year history of the Earth when climate was not changing. It is an axiom that the climate is changing.

What is implied by the climate change crowd is that there is an anthropomorphic component of climate change that causes excursions from naturally occurring climate change. What they don't say is what the baseline climate change should be or how they would measure the difference between the climate change that would occur naturally and the climate change is actually occurring. Climate change disciples do not put that into the form of a hypothesis because that could be disproved. It is much safer to stick with an axiom that cannot be disproved and then to call anyone who disagrees a denier.

As to disproving that which Tyson said, it is not up to me or anyone else to do that. It is up to Tyson to convince us that what he said is true. He does that by stating his hypothesis and then explaining how he has attempted and failed to disprove it. In the scientific world, that is done with experiments and data. Climate change proof is in the form of computer modeling results.

Full disclosure: I am not a climatologist. I have a degree in chemical engineering and I also have a professional engineer's license (56174) in the state of Texas.

OK, I watched the video from 2014. The entire premise of this video is that the additional CO2 added to the atmosphere by humans is causing global temperatures to rise.

There are two flaws with the logic. First, measured temperatures of the Earth's atmosphere (actual data, not hypothetical arguments) show that global temperatures are not rising. Second, there is an equilibrium between CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere and plant growth.

Tyson implied that CO2 added to the atmosphere by humans was accumulating. It is not. Much of it goes into increased photosynthesis by plants. See this study:

I do admit that Tyson sounds very convincing. There are numerous examples from history where conventional wisdom that people were absolutely convinced was true, turned out to be wrong.

I'd love to get one of these smart leftist "intellectual" tree huggers to explain how is it, if humans are the cause of this climate change (I thought it was supposed to be "global warming" ), what about the 5 major ice ages was "man made"?

Did we roll in jacked up Trucks spewing diesel during the Huronian ice age? Was Trump around the Cryogenian ice age to make some back room deals with China?
Oh I know...I bet G dubya had something to do during the Andean-Saharan ice age, or maybe it was Reagan during Karoo or Trump's kids during Quaternary ice ages that caused the glaciers to melt.

Of course, since they are so much smarter then all, they just know that it definitely couldn't be the variations in the Earth’s orbit and shifting plate tectonics causing these periods.

I hate to get in on this, but here we go... my biggest beef with the global warming people is that they indoctrinate others (kids especially ) into thinking that global warming is a bad thing for mankind. Periods of global warming have never been bad for mankind, they have always been beneficial, global cooling on the other hand has been very bad for mankind. Now.... the global warming that I do fear is the type that happens when a nuclear weapon is detonated 1,000 feet above my family, that one I fear and worry about. They need to go back to worrying about that type, and forget about the 1 degree temperature rise over 100 years stuff, waste of time and peoples energy. I have a brush pile I need to go burn, carry on. Rant over.

With all the doubt on whether man has caused global warming or even if there is global warming. Ther other part that I question is if global warming would be such a bad thing. Would it be so terrible if huge parts of the planet became more habitable or if we could have crops and livestock on the what is now pretty useless lands in Northern Canada, Alaska or even Antartica? ... Would it be terrible if we could have pineapple and coconut crops in Colorado? All I know is the surface of the planet Earth has been changing for 4 1/2 Billion years and been changing since mankind first set his two feet upon it. We have adapted and mostly made use of the planet's resources to benefit mankind making life not only more comfortable but more capable of supporting more of us. Thanks to the miracles of chemical engineering technology and all the other sciences. I am grateful we have the abilities to sleep in climate controlled homes and cheaply drive for hundreds of miles and fly anywhere on the planet. I am grateful that we don't live in fear of global deadly pandemics like polio or the plague. I love the fact that we have global instant communications across the planet at very low costs.

To those that want to curtail the progress and technology we enjoy, Why don't they move into a cave somewhere, and let the rest of us sit in our warm well lit homes at the dinner table while we enjoy the GMO fed beef for dinner that was cooked on petrofuels.
