Sad to see this craziness in Dallas but sadder still I'm not surprised by this manifestation of the ongoing Californication of Texas.

Why would anyone shoot a firefighter?
Of course shooting police is abhorrent as well, but a firefighter?
What threat is a firefighter to even the worst of lowlife?
Unconscionable.

I posted the locked thread. The OP of this thread beat me to the topic by 4 minutes. Must have been posted while I was typing. I tied it with the shelving of HB 56 which would have given EMS and FD the ability to carry, while on duty, concealed where LEO's are able. Seems there was a few folks on the forum against the idea. One fella even called it snowflake law.

I could not find the article which made the statement but the section where this shooting occurred is apparently a known difficult area. Last year, a new policy for DFR was set to allow them to wear protective gear in such areas. It isn't clear if that policy was implemented or if the fireman shot in this case had the opportunity to use that gear.

This article claims that armor was available, but that An was not wearing any.

Dallas Fire-Rescue paramedics have access to body armor, though the wounded paramedic was not wearing any.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

WFAA.com story here says he was arrested for PCP use in 2008, got a Florida CCL a couple of years ago, has a long history of criminal activity, and was the father of 18 (!) children. Yes, I'm hoping that's a typo, too, but I dread that it's actually accurate.

How does a felon with multiple convictions obtain a Florida (or any other state) CCL?
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

How does a person convicted of drug offenses, get a job in a hospital, where he could have access to more drugs?
This is what is wrong with the judicial system. He should have been locked up years ago. By releasing him back on the streets, it puts not only LEO. and Paramedics in danger, but the entire public. This is just one instance, there are literally thousands of people, just like this, freely walking the streets. Ya'll be safe out there.
