HAM Radio Equipment

#1

Post by Lynyrd »

The recent posts about HAM radios got me to thinking about something I have had in storage for 20 years.

I inherited these two items years ago. One is a radio receiver, and the other is a 12 volt power supply. I have no idea what to price them at, or whether or not anyone would want them. If there is any interest out there among you HAM operators, let me know.

You might contact local East Texas Ham club, https://www.google.com/search?q=east+te ... 8&oe=utf-8

I have several thousands of dollars worth of older equipment, 3 Icoms, 3 AOR receive only radios, lots of radio shack stuff, boxes full of diodes, transistors, capacitors etc etc etc misc test equipment, digital converters, digital data interpreter for converting Fax/TTY/Morse code etc to text, Satellite Interfaces, Computer Interfaces, etc that I'll probably end up more or less donating to Highland Lakes HLARC - Highland Lakes (Tx.) Amateur Radio Club Inc. which has some Marble Falls City Fire Dept / EMS members in it. Either that, or I need to get busy and finish projects I started in the 1980s/1990s before I built a computer top program them, and got caught up on the Internets and working for MSN etc ... I need to find my radio modification books stored out in the shed.

I dont know squat about radio equipment or it's value, but all of you that have outdated equipment might get together with Charles and see if his group, promoting HAM radio to youth, may be interested in any of this stuff. If for no other reason to teach more about the history. JMHO

:iagree: Good idea, It's like my old satellite TV dishes are still useful with my new digital tuners, yet the old analog tuners still have some good uses

Now that is some cool stuff. I was really into electronics in the '70's and '80's, but I never did take the test for my amateur radio license.

Maybe you should save for the coming North Korean EMP attack. That equipment doesn't have wimpy microcircuits, looks like it's got good old tubes and discrete transistors. Just the thing for surviving EMP and the resulting zombie apocalypse. "rlol"

It really is cool. There are people who collect old radios. This vintage may not be old enough to be considered antique, but I'll bet it still works well, especially HF stuff. I really don't need another hobby to sink my money into other than guns, but now that they've eliminated the code requirement I'm really thinking of taking up Amateur Radio. I studied Electromagnetic Theory extensively in my Physics classes and was a Navy communications officer, so I'll bet I could pass the Extra exam. Anyway, I'm really tempted to get my Technician license to start.
