Beiruty is back from Beirut, Lebanon

Post by Beiruty »

Wow.. I am back to find my house had water leak from the laundry room. Damage was limited to laundry room, hallway, and surrounding walls.Water Restoration service crew spent 3-hrs to extract water and start industrial size super jumbo dehumidifiers.
Enough with bad news.

The five weeks vacation was de-inflating my stressors and sweet times with family, extended family and old time friends.

Beirut and Lebanon in general is trying to come back like a phoenix. However, the ashes (political/corruptions) and militia the size of any army choking the country, funded by mafia money and Iran military and financial support make the true re-birth of the country a challenge.

Oh, the environmental pollution in the coastal areas is sickening (me included).

I will try to share some of my photos later on.
Last post from Beirut: Bye bye Beirut. I hope on the next visit, I find you brighter, your air cleaner, and your people happier.

Were those lamb chops I saw go by in the photo? mmmmmmmmmm. And middle eastern desserts. mmmmmmmmm. The ME has a lot of chaos, but they have some awesome food too.

Never been to Lebanon, but was in Abu Dhabi some years back and ate as often as I could at this Iranian restaurant that served heavenly lamb chops. I have been afraid ever since to eat lamb chops for fear I will be disappointed, those things were so good.

Dang. Now I am really hungry.

Oh, and welcome back!

Welcome back. Sorry to learn of your water leak and the state of affairs in your homeland. I bet it makes you even more grateful for your new country.

Just curious. Did you have any travel issues getting back into the US?

It was one of the best restaurant chops I had. They are so tender and juicy at the same time. The place is a Bistro in a new Hotel. Amazing food at an unbelievable prices. Very busy all day long, all week long.
At waterfront restos you pay 4X more and you get average food. At this place in the middle of downtown. It is a small jewel shining like a diamond.

Bro, ordered a Black Angus Steak that is like it came from middle of texas. Yummy.

In Frankfurt, I was picked for "randomly selected" extra security measures ( equivalent to what you see in US international terminals). Bomb residue swipes, shoes hand inspection, and inspecting ant testing any liquids (they pulled out by eye drops!), Oh, plus the regular low-radiation scatter imaging.
Here at DFW, I used for the first time, the e-customs declaration kiosk and just waved in by the Customs official.

Welcome back Beiruty!

Been missing your posts on here! Laundry room floods are common if they sit idle for long periods of time. Glad it was mostly contained.

Sorry to hear your homeland was not as you had hoped, but at least you got the chance to relax, and reconnect with family.

Would love for you to join us at our breakfast Saturday morning, I know it's a drive for you but would really enjoy meeting you. Bring Mrs. Beiruty also!
