Any here own an Inverter type generator?
I'm interested in getting one, but they're far, far more costly than your standard, garden variety combustion engine gen.
I know some of their particulars, i.e., quieter than combustion engine or so says the marketing copy, only put out energy needed for what is being powered, vs other type gen. that runs full out no matter what's being powered, and on and on.
So, if any here own one, would you recommend one?
I'm looking at a 7000 watt, but it may simply be more economical to purchase a propane powered Generac Guardian, though they may be dreadfully loud too.
When hurricane Harvey killed our power, I cranked up my 7000 watt Honda combustion/gasoline fueled engine generator, but man oh man, it's loud.
I'd really like a much quieter generator.
What say you?
Thanks!

We own a Honda EU3000iS. I use mine in RV parks when their electricity goes down. I have used it many times on my patio when we have had power down at the house. It is not very loud at all. We have ran it through the night on many occasions.

Have used a Honda EU3000is on my Horse trailer rv for 12 years now. Very quiet, solid and dependable with auto idle engaged very low fuel usage. Only thing it's not 220 volt so I bought a larger noisier cheaper propane generator for the house.

Honda inverter for 7000w costs about $4,000 and that is only 7000 starting, 5500 running. I got a regular generator at Sams and it has a Honda engine, electric and pull start option. Works good. Came with a wheel kit. I think it was $800. I don't care if it's noisy as it is outside when it's running. Runs everything I need except air conditioner. Has 220 outlet too. Don't need it very often but when you need it you have it.
For small output I would buy one of the Honda Inverter type. Harbor Freight sells something also but I would stick to name brand and Honda seems to be THE name brand.
