Re: Dems introduce bill banning semi-autos
They just have to either ban murder or ban schools. The latter will prevent school shootings.

Re: Dems introduce bill banning semi-autos
This bill may be named "The 2018 Firearms Industry Sales Slump Ending Act".
Going after all semi-automatic weapons, who could have predicted that the progressive socialists would propose that?

There's zero chance this bill goes anywhere. Look for this one to die in committee.

Re: Dems introduce bill banning semi-autos
Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) said yesterday on CNN that there will be no legislation to ban semi-automatic weapons. Apparently he forgot to clue in his counterparts in the House of the plan.

ETA: Look what they just introduced in MN

Remember, no one wants to take your guns, you crazy conspiracy theorist gun nuts.
ETA again:
Just to be sure, I've written my rep:
This needs to be struck down by the SCOTUS. It flies in the face of the intended purpose of the interstate commerce clause, and it pops up way too often to just "make it our jurisdiction"The legislation would make it “unlawful for a person to import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, a semiautomatic assault weapon.”

Just to be sure, I've written my rep:
Dear Representative,
I am writing you this evening to express my strong opposition to the "Assault Weapons Ban of 2018" which was introduced by House Democrats today. This bill is not numbered yet, but is found here: http://thehill.com/homenews/house/37565 ... eapons-ban
As a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, I am adamantly opposed to this bill. There are far more effective ways of combating violence in our communities than infringing on the rights of citizens, especially those which "shall not be infringed." This bill will have no affect on crime, just as the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 had no measurable impact on violent crime. If this bill comes before any committee you are a member of or to the floor of the House, I strongly urge you to vote no on its passage, in its current state or any amended state.
Thank you

President Obama fired a semiautomatic shotgun for the press after Sandy Hook. Biden suggested using a semiautomatic shotgun for home defense. Have they changed their minds?

Yep. "Threaded barrel" is one of the things on the list.SewTexas wrote:it's not "all Semis" it's semis + one other thing from a list....but it's a big list.
Also applies to pistols and shotguns, not just rifles.
I couldn't follow all the magazine restrictions.
Let the country see exactly what these people want to do. This is not "common sense regulation", it's a sweeping ban of maybe not every semi-automatic weapon, but a big chunk of them.

Not to not pick, but Biden advocated using a double barrel shotgun, both barrels, fired indiscriminately, in an unspecified direction, to "scare away" intruders. Effectively, disarming the homeowner.MaduroBU wrote:President Obama fired a semiautomatic shotgun for the press after Sandy Hook. Biden suggested using a semiautomatic shotgun for home defense. Actually, the shotgun he fired (and there's been debate about that) was a double-barrel over/under shotgun.Jusme wrote:Not to not pick, but Biden advocated using a double barrel shotgun, both barrels, fired indiscriminately, in an unspecified direction, to "scare away" intruders. Re: Dems introduce bill banning semi-autos
Any double barrel with a single selective trigger is semiautomatic. I'm making a point of this because the proposed standard is designed around a mental image drawn from very few facts. The hypocrites who proposed it are content in their ignorance because they want to ban all firearms.
Obama shot a Citori or 725. As I have pointed out on this forum, several bump stock bills would've banned the Browning Cynergy as it replaced the inertia block of the Citori to improve lock time and thus increase the effective rate of fire. None of the folks waving around black rifles with Cmags in support of the ban mentioned that fact, but it cast the foolishness of those bills into stark relief.
Finally, would my Cynergy or Obama's Citori remain legal? Those are screw in extended chokes on the president's shotgun. Does the bill exclude internal threads? Bond's famous suppressor attaches to his equally famous PPK via internal threads through an adapter called a ghost mount. Maybe they wouldn't allow internal threads even if they knew about shotguns.

More knee-jerk proposed laws to make otherwise law-abiding citizens criminals. Criminal aggressors will simply ignore them like all the other laws they break.
