John Galt,
What's in it for her is staying in power supplied by the political European equivalent of our bleeding heart socialists/communists. You know, the ones who insist on no borders, don't want the tide of illegals to stop while providing welfare of every description for them and even letting them vote, though they're not citizens. Voting for the left as it champions foreign illegal nationals at the expense of our own citizens and treasure.
Of course, for Wester Europe it's a bit more complex than that, but in a nutshell that's what it amounts too. Plus, factor in a whole lot of guilt leftover from WW11. Why who could be so heartless as to deny entry to these poor sods, who by the way were mostly young men...not women and children. Yes, there were 'some' women and children, but darn few in comparison to healthy, young men. Who are now ravaging their host countries.
Tony Blair, the equal of Merkel back when he was in power, did the same thing to the U.K. even though the vast majority of natives were against it, rightly fearing they'd be overcome by foreign nationals, because accepting a never ending parade of non-assimilating foreign nationals who would be over taking the host country (U.K) was obvious and inevitable given a vast sea of never ending entry of foreign nationals. But, if anyone in (other than a U.K. Joe Sixpack who, he/she doesn't have any political influence) spoke up against the tide of foreign nationals was a career ender. He or she would be labeled a racist, xenophobe and hater.
Border? What border? Let all and everyone who wants in, in...Just like the left does here with our invasion from south of the border. Then the U.K. political leaders had the gall to insist foreign nationals put in more than they took out of public assistance by way of taxes, blah, blah, blah. Again, like our left declares as regards our own plague of foreign nationals. Easily disproven, but the left ludicrously insisted was true...

There are reportedly some 800,000 year old hominid footprints (in stone) in East England.Ruark wrote:Fascinating stuff... but I'm curious about who they call "original residents" of London. People who were living there 50 years ago? 40? 30? 5? Just wondering. Any cite on this would be most welcome.
