These words didn't come from McCain's mouth, but believe he thinks the exact same way!

Actually, I agree with closing the gun show loophole.
As long as an individual can still sell to another individual without a background check (Not within a gun show) I am fine with it.

Now, having said that I am sure there are those here that will really jump on this with the argument that it is "chipping away" at our rights. This is a valid argument, but I do believe that gun shows are where Felon's and Gang Bangers get a lot of their weapons. And these weapons are on the street and used in crimes.

"Gun control" does not work. When criminals want weapons, they will get weapons. The United Kingdom is a sovereign nation on an island. Non-LEO handguns are completely banned, and criminals still obtain them in greater numbers then before the ban.

Not a flame, but I am curious as to what you mean by the gun show loophole if you still will allow personal face to face sales without a NICS check. If I meet you at my house, I can sell to you, but if I meet you at a gunshow, I cannot? Somehow, that does not make sense to me.

Is there some other loophole am I missing? I always thought the so called gun show loophole was that individuals could sell their gun in a face to face sale there without a license or background check. I know the anti's claim that this is a lot of guns being sold this way, but i don't really think it is. I think, from my expereince, that about 75or 80% of the guns sold by individuals at gunshows are actually sold to dealers. There are some sold to other individuals, I just never saw it as a large number.

This is exactly what I mean. I have even stopped going to gun shows because of what I see there. Illegals and other's that "look the part" buying cheap guns from individual tables (not licensed Dealers) that appear to me to be buying them there because they cannot buy legally from a Dealer. Last time I went I had to disarm before going in and then I watch numerous individuals as mentioned above walking out with AK-47's and ammo! It was not a "friendly" feeling........Now, I just don't go anymore.

I have been to quite a few gun shows and have never seen anyone I could say for certain was illegal. When I had my FFL I made certain I did everything by the book but no one ever looked illegal.

If you could be more explicit about what "looking the part" is we can keep an eye out for them when we go to gun shows.

If we can have the fed government raise the minimum wage maybe the poorer people can buy more expensive guns.

Well,

Obviously there are several here that do not share my view or comments on this topic. Therefore, rather than disturb anyone any further, I will cease to post in this thread.

Perhaps all of this can be addressed via the judicious selection of a running mate for McCain. Here's my pick:
