eddy stone m1917

hey all,
I have an eddy stone m1917 that has been sporterized, my father bought it new many moons ago. I recently acquired it, it had a scope put on it and the scope has been lost over the yeas, and the mount damaged ( not a big deal since I could not use it since I'm a left hand shooter). so I'm wanting to put a new scope on it but i'm not sure what would be a good powered scope for it, i'm looking to remove the iron sites that are damaged on it and put a s&k insta-mount scope base

I hunted with one for years when I was young, good gun. My brother in law still has it. A 3x9 would probably be a good scope for it, as it's a 30.06. I would probably get the head space checked before you shoot it though.

If we're mine I would take a hard look at a Leupold VX-1 2x7.

I have one on a knock about bolt gun and think it is about the perfect scope for that purpose.
