AR Price Drops??

#1

Post by mot7981 »

Can someone explain why AR's appear to be going for cheaper prices these days? I've seen price drops by many manufacturers lately. Now, today I saw an ad from Centerfire for a basic Delton Sport including sights and mag for $429. Did all the suppliers just overbuild or is the market saturated? May be time to pick up a spare to leave at the lake.

I'm sure it's directly related to the election results. I would assume most AR manufacturers were producing at a level that factored a Clinton victory and a high demand for AR's that continued as it had during the Obama years. That did not materialize and now we have a glut of AR supplies in the pipeline. The first to fall was Olympic Arms in January, i'm sure more will in the future. It's a great time to buy one, bad time to be in the business.

Yea I’d say that all makes sense. Kind of amusing that if folks really want less guns out there (as in less sales) they should really be staunch republicans. It seems like every time libs run the show, firearms just fly off the shelves.

I've heard it numerous times from my local gun store that business is amazing in the democrat years but as soon as a republican gets elected business slows way down. My Local gun store is very conservative in their political views. They told me last time I wasn't in there and was lookin at the surplus of AR's they had and asked em if business was slow now they said yeah and we were busy in th election and during Obama years but if Clinton had of won we'd of lost our guns. That's their philosophy. That's why I try to buy local as Much as I can to help them out and keep my money here

With the last election favoring the republican party so strongly, demand has declined, and stocks in Ruer and S&W and others has dropped at a time when the stock market is moving in the other direction.... Happened in years past. Long story short, democrats are good for gun sales. Just picked up a Windham Arms AR for $399 shipped week before last. Basic rifle, but for that price a couple in the safe are not a bad thing. Take advantage while the price's are good. :fire

I believe the price reduction is due to profiteering or price gouging and less with supply and demand.

I agree the election results have everything to do with drop in prices and there very well may be a large quantity of AR 15s in the production que, but I went to a lot of gun shows and stores during the Obama years and saw a lot of ARs on the tables and in the racks. Didn't look like there was a short supply to me. Just lots of very expensive hardware.

This is unlike the ammo shortages where you couldn't find 9mm anywhere!

Basics. Republican President = lower prices on guns, ammo etc.
Democrat (Socialist) President = higher gun/ammo prices etc.

In other words, if you're interested in gun biz, wait for Dem administration...

The irony is that the leftists who are arming up now are paying less for their weapons and ammunition than the righty did during the last 8 years.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

During the 2012 scare mfg's were having a hard time finding even the raw materials to make ar's. Colt couldn't find enough steel to make barrels, my own shop was churning out freefloat tube for dpms/Remington ar's to the tune of approx 16k a month. Some months we barely made it due to a lack of material. I'd say the market is pretty well saturated. I remember an article a few years ago about a gun store that was offering buy one get one on ar's just to move them.

I haven't looked, but I wonder if the higher tier AR's like Daniel Defense, Noveske, BCM, etc. are also coming down in price?

Or, is it only the lower tier ARs?

Let's keep droppin' baby.

Daddy has put a parts list together and is building his first AR15 as funds allow. I'm glad I started when I did. I'd hate to be buying parts a couple of years ago.
