I think the .300AAC loses muzzle velocity after about 11 inches of barrel but I am not sure how much...hafta google it...lol

You are going to like that little rifle very much Andy. I have a 16"AR rifle for wife and I,also a 8.5"AR pistol with scopes on both. The scope on the pistol is a cheap UTG 3-9X32 1" BugBuster Scope with QD mount. It is 2 " high at 100 yards and the first mark under the crosshairs we use at 225 yards to shoot clay pigeons on our backstop using 110gr ammo. The little round is going to surprise you and coyotes or hogs just can't take it. Have fun with your new toy.

I own several ARs in .223/5.56, one in 6.5 Grendel, and one in 300 Blackout. The most accurate AR I own is the 300 Blackout.

Classic mixmaster AR...Bushmaster M4 type lower with BCM PNT Trigger, Aero Precision upper, Bushmaster BCG, Brownells Nitride 16 inch 1/8 twist government profile barrel with carbine gas and A2 flash hider, mid-length free float handguard with low profile gas block under the handguard, and a 3-9x40 Nikon Buckmasters Scope in a Burris PEPR Mount.

With a 125 Grain Nosler Ballistic Tip, a near max load of H110 in LC reformed brass with WSR primers, it averages 2207 fps with 3/4 MOA or better accuracy, with 3 shots into one hole often if I do my part. I literally have not shot a three shot group over .75 inches at 100 yards with that barrel. Not bad for a barrel I bought on sale from Brownells for 84.99.

The little round has grown on me, I think it will grow on you too.

There's a lot of hype around 300 BLK and I didn't want to like it, but then I shot a friend's and had to buy one for myself. It's one of my favorite rifles now. The Primary Arms 3x scope with 300 ACSS reticle is great but even with a basic red dot I was ringing the gong. The only con is ammunition cost and availability but if you reload it mitigates that problem.

Probably my favorite gun to shoot right now is a 300 Blackout AR pistol I built about a year ago. I usually shoot it from a cheek weld.

For my 10.5" BBL pistol, I went with the Primary Arms 3X Compact Prism Scope with the 7.62X39/300BO ACSS Reticle. The reticle is useful for both supersonic and subsonic.

That’s the primary reason I chose a 10.5” barrel for my .300 Blk SBR. According to the reading I did before buying, the cartridge is more or less optimized for that length - whether you’re shooting subs or supers. I had originally considered a 10.5” 5.56 barrel for an SBR.....and may do one yet, now that the SBR is already registered....but then I started investigating .300 Blk, and decided to do that caliber instead.
