Senate Judiciary Chairman Miguel Diaz de la Portilla, R-Miami, said Thursday he doesn’t plan to have the proposal (SB 176) go before his committee, which would effectively kill the bill.

Sounds like a similar move that they like to pull in Illinois all the time. Though Illinois' favorite thing to thing to do is pass a bill through committee and then gut it and remake it something else before voting on it to become actual law.

Which works both ways, that's how the IL CHL law got through.
