NC: Permitless concealed carry passes House

All Democrats voted against. Eight Republicans defected and while the bill still passed, it wasn't a "veto-proof" majority. The bill still has to go to the Senate, which is 34-16 Republican. However the Governor is a Democrat who will almost certainly veto the bill if it reaches his desk.

There would still be a chance of an override - one observer noted that legislators sometimes vote for an override for bills they originally voted against because of loyalty to party and legislature, but seems slim when these 8 went against party and party platform already.

NC republicans passed a budget, the governor vetoed it. They overruled him. NC has a good chance. You can already open carry riles and handguns without a permit. Something Texas will never see.

Never is a very long time.

There was a time when lots of people were as pessimistic about campus and open carry.
