The problem is the Californian's that are moving to Texas and bringing their hair brained ideas with them! :banghead:
Not all of them.

"TAM" came from commiefornia...and he's good as gold.

So, some of them have their heads on straight. :thumbs2:

California arguably has better knife laws than Texas. No blade length limit on folding knives and <2" switchblades are legal for carry.

When I lived there, I would have gladly traded California's knife laws for Texas's gun laws. I carry a Kershaw Tanto Blur because the mechanism is convenient, safe, and easy, and it has a strong blade which appears to keep its edge well. If it becomes illegal, I'll still carry a similar knife, just without the Kershaw opening mechanism. Like others, I carry a knife as a tool. I've done so ever since I was a young boy. My knives have never gone off accidentally and cut someone innocent.

Great discussion...These bills need support, and thos elegislators need to hear from us...

What gets me the most is that so many of us are loaning out (borrowing) and or losing things like ammo and firearms in boating accidents and other tragic incidents these days...

I just feel terrible about some of our group having this kind of bad luck...I'm just too upset to write about what happened to some of my stuff right now...

A minor victory: HB 4456 passed today. Status of all actions on the bill can be found here: http://www.legis.state.tx.us/BillLookup ... ill=HB4456.

The text clearly shows that modern "assisted opening" folders are not considered switchblades. I kinda wish the definition of "dagger" could have been addressed at the same time, but it's still a victory. I think I hear my Kershaw's applauding...

Not too fast; it has to pass in the Senate. Surely it will.

The TX knife mickeymouse is why I switched to a small, LEGAL fixed blade knife for carry.

Yeppers. That's why it was a "minor" victory. But the House vote was encouraging: 149 yea, 0 nay, 1 present but not voting (the Speaker). The bill was received into the Senate yesterday. This one will be a "nice to have," but my fingers are really crossed for the parking lot and campus carry bills...

How likely is it that the Senate will get to this bill before time runs out?

IIRC, the deadlines are not hard and fast, once a bill has passed one body of the legislature. Since this has passed the House, it is not subject to the deadlines of this week.

I just received my Spyderco Police 3 on Tuesday. :thumbs2: Since DPS is taking it's time with my renewal, I had to get something. (Well, that's the story I gave to the wife... :reddevil )

Good thing I don't go through San Antonio very much, but at least this bill will straighten this mess out.

Soon after they passed this, a gang person shot someone with a Colt Dragoon replica, which was legal to carry in SA because it was a black powder weapon... :clapping:

I am aware of this law, but not of the comments you attribute to the city council. Can you elaborate and preferably, post a source?

Also, I looked but what is the penalty for carrying one anyways?
