So where exactly are we on this now?
It needed 21 votes to suspend the Senate Rules and bring it up for debate and voting. Then it only takes a simple majority to pass.

Been awhile since I have posted but I follow almost everyday. Thank you to all who actively took part in SB 1164 passing the Senate. Thanks to all who contacted their Senator to push for passage. Alot more work is left for this and other important RTKBA legislation. Keep up the good work.

That's actually a lot less biased than I was expecting.

It was plenty biased. The tired refrain of "guns make me nervous" and "some one will get a bad grade and start shooting". The only point in favor of our rights was the VT crime.

Why isn't the issue of self-defense against rapes, assaults, and robberies talked about more often or at all? That's the real reason for the bill! :mad5 This is a common-sense gun law.

+1

The idea that a student will start 'blasting' for a bad grade or a jilted love affair is preposterous. No moreso than a person who gets cut-off in traffic, or rear-ended by a soccer mom driving while putting on make-up in the morning. We hear about CHL holders shooting innocent soccer moms and roadrage incidents all the time!! :roll: :roll: ...Rightttt

I hope that the people who vote on this will look at real-world instead of listening to the "kids and parents" who are worrying their little lives away about "someone with a gun".

I agree.. it is preposterous, and I'm tired of hearing these concerned faculty types being quoted in the paper. If college students are that emotionally unstable, then these professors would be worried constantly about students going postal under current law.

Have they removed all knives from campus dining halls? You know, to stop students from stabbing professors when they get bad grades.

Here is a link to the Texas Legislative web site. You can follow any bill and bring-up a .pdf of the latest archived action.
http://www.legis.state.tx.us/BillLookup ... ill=SB1164" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Currently, SB1164 has been sent to the House from the Senate, and it now needs to be read officially to the House, assigned to committee, and the committe must either give it a favorable or unfavorable report. If it's a favorable report, which it should be since it has strong support in the House, it then has to go to the Calendars Committee, and hopefully set on the House Major Calendar. You can get more info from Mr. Cotton's thread http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... 92&t=25064" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .

Senator Duncan.... :nono: Universities do not have a right to vote. Also, very few if anyone who didn't want campus carry wouldn't vote for him anyway. And what if this does pass? Does he think the liberal minded people at Tech are going to remember that he tried to kill this bill? What a Maroon.
