If it went off the news would still report it a a shooting with a high powered weapon of war fully automatic machine gun causing mass destruction.

Unfortunately good news doesn't get much coverage.

I saw the story and heard about it briefly. The gun was the only thing that got much play while the failed bomb was barely mentioned at all.
