Well I'll just buy with cash, banks can't track the money I withdraw from the ATM. I can see this coming into effect if everything goes blue this November. :banghead:

Banks are terrified of runs above all else. This is a move that we can and should punish severely.

I'm just curious how they plan to differentiate between the purchase of a firearm and a tent at a place like Cabela's, or between a box of ammo and a video game at Walmart. The only thing fed to the credit card terminal is the dollar amount, the individual items are not.

Credit Cards can pay the retailer to share their invoice items with the VISA transactions (many retailer do that for long time) without IDing the buyer.
The retailer has all the transaction item anyway including your Name and your Credit Card number

My perspective, and a nasty possible counter-move to them: Pretty risky behavior for companies which are (at BEST) 3% liquid should their customers suddenly decide en masse that they want to make sure that they can actually get all of their cash from their bank.... just making the point that OUR money gives us the power because the one thing that fills bankers with terror is the prospect of a "run" on their bank. They'd do well to back off.
So if 3-5 million NRA members or say 25-50% of gun owners cashed out of their banks on the same day, do you think that would get their attention?

Are there any other Constitutionally protected, God given rights the financial industry, the media and the progressive socialists colluding on to take away from the People? Maybe not openly until they achieve their next agenda item of disarmament.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

With each event comes another nutty track of factions... What I can't figure out is why a savvy banker (surely there are a number of 2A friendly ones) wouldn't start a new bank and initially cater to gun owners, makers, retailers and NRA members??? And then expand as viable. Seems like a no brainer, especially if they got the basics right- on-line bill pay, etc.

RoyGBiv,

Would you be so kind as to provide a synopsis of what: "Level 3 credit card data" means?

Thanks!

Please remember these kinds of articles when you think about going cash less.
Without the ability to use cash, 'THEY' can control your spending.

Plan A. Keep a low profile / use a pseudonym. Don't let others know about your guns.
(For me, that ship has sailed.)

Plan B. Make it seem like the population of firearms enthusiasts is huge.

I am going with Plan B.

emphasis added.
Level 3 payments require all of the information required for Level 2 and will need to include additional information to complete the payment to reduce transaction costs. These additional fields may include:

Item ID or SKU
Item description
Unit price
Extended price
Unit of measure (each)
Commodity code
Line discount

That alone is a great ad for carrying cash! I'm a cash guy, the wife is a debit carder... whenever there is a "problem" she asks if I have any cash.
