Ruger 10/22 Tactical

At the risk of asking a really dumb question, here goes.

I have this gun http://www.ruger.com/products/1022Tacti ... 11198.html and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to field strip it. I have other 10/22's that I can easily field strip, but the hardware on this one does not seem to allow for the same type of disassembly (remove a screw and take the stock off). If anyone can walk me through it or point me to a video, I would be very grateful.

Thanks. One of the videos shows a step by step installation of the stock, so I should be able to just reverse the last few steps. Although that still seems to involve removing a number of screws, some of which seem to have lock-tite.

And to answer your question, the gun came with a standard 10/22 manual where you just have to remove one takedown screw.

I agree they seemed pretty involved. I probably wouldn't take it apart all that often and just clean the barrel and chamber after every shoot.

I recently inherited a Glenfield Model 75 which requires a number of screws to be removed if you wanted to clean more than just the barrel and chamber.

That's my plan. The problem is that I was thinking about sending it in for some trigger work, and they want you to just send the trigger group......

I have a Ruger 10/22 Tactical with an ATI (?) stock that I picked up in a trade with Carlson (great guy BTW!).

Anyway, its not as "tacticool" as the pic you linked to, but it was pretty simple to work on:

I took it apart (yes, there were six screws to remove from the top rail to get the handguard off):



But then it came apart just like any other 10/22.

I replaced the trigger assembly with the BX Trigger (huge improvement, NO need to send your trigger out!), installed a larger "tactical" charging handle and a polyurethane buffer stop (the steel buffer will eventually damage the bolt if you plan on this being a high round count firearm).
