I agree about the spring being very stiff. My sister thought she wanted a Shield then she shot one and had lots of trouble racking the slide.
The single-stack slim design plus the rebate is hard to pass up. One of these days I will get a Shield, however, your sister is right. Racking the slide on a Shield is not nearly as smooth as racking the slides on my Glock 26 and Glock 30.

time for me to finally get the .45 if i can find a deal without the safety

had the 9 since they first came out and its been my primary carry ever since, so soft shooting for the size.

I just ordered the .45 with night sights for $449 from Buds. $374 after rebate. I was going to get the ported model, but was worried about potential issues with visibility if I had to shoot it at night.

Gunbroker has one on sale for $327.77 with 29.88 shipping + 10 FFL fee = $367.65 - $75.00 MIR = $292.65 Total Cost

I bought one at this price yesterday from the same dealer.

GrabAGun has the Shield .45 no safety for $339 plus tax for local pickup in DFW area. So about $292 after rebate.

Picked one up today for grabagun for $315 + tax. $265 after rebate. No shipping or FFL charge. Kinda hard to beat for a decent little single stack. GaG was packed today, shields were flying off their shelves. Guy in front picked up 5 and the next guy got one and then me. Guy at the counter said they selling them left and right and are putting in orders everyday.

I picked up mine yesterday. I put a set of Talon grips on it, and I cannot wait to get it to the range. Paid $349 plus tax at my local store. After the rebate it will end up costing me $303, but they included an extra 8 round mag, and I got to support my local shop, so I'm pretty happy with that.

I didn't need a Shield, but my youngest daughter had her M&P .380 Bodyguard stolen so I bought her a new one from an online vendor I had never used before. I ran across them when I was doing a search for S&W rebates. They had the Bodyguard for $249, no tax and free shipping. With the rebate that makes it $199. I ordered it April 1 and I was a little concerned that I didn't get much in the way of order communication. I received a notice of shipment on April 4 and picked it up from my FFL on April 6, so I am not going to complain about no followup on the order #. All in all a good deal and smooth transaction. I did the online S&W rebate submission, so I don't even have to buy a stamp.

Thinking of getting a Shield 9 or LC9s. Which would you recommend and why?
Wife is considering getting her LTC and all my guns are full size and figured a smaller gun would be good for her.

Shiled and LC9s are both great options! The Ruger has an amazing trigger. The shield is an awesome gun. I own the 45 and carry it daily and love it more than any carry gun I've ever had. Ergos are perfect and fit and finish are top notch. The 45 shield has a better trigger than the 9 and 40 versions.
