Spyderco knives

I've been thinking about getting a Spyderco knife I don't need and the main suspects are Paramilitary 2, Endura and Police. Any observations on any of those would be appreciated.

I asked for and received the "Police" model, I like it, but i found I can't open it one-handled easily.

I carry a couple of endura's, and have done so for probably 5 years. I would be hard pressed to change. I love the vg10 steel.

I have the Police model . Straight blade. No problem opening it one handed. I've carried Benchmade. I like the Spyderco just as well. They also have great CS, as they have sent me clip screws at no charge.

Well, I found the Caly 3.5 carbon fiber ZDP-189 for $102.99 and took advantage of that as I think that's an extremely good deal on that knife. I also ordered the PM2 for $110.99 as that seems like a bit better than usual deal on it. The Endura and Police will stay on the suspects list and I think I'll add either the Assist or Assist Salt to the suspect list as well, maybe next in line. Yes, it can be a slippery slope.

I just ordered a Manix 2 lightweight in orange from CS that I think is a limited run. I really like the orange.

Be careful with your Spyderco knife. A few months back mine opened in my pocket as I was digging around for my car keys. Gave me a nasty cut on the tip of my finger. So, I have retired that knife. I know it is not as "sexy" but I went back to my Kershaw "Onion" knife that has a lock on the end to keep it from opening up accidentally. It is also not a "tactical" knife but it is a very sharp and dependable knife.

I had a knife long ago that did that. I don't remember what kind now. It was about a 3" knife and money clip. It would open just enough to expose the tip but that was all it took to stick your finger like you were testing blood sugar. I only carry knives with a clip now.

I remember now that it was a CRKT Halligan. Cool knife but didn't work so well as a money clip.

Spyderco knives are not designed for down in the pocket carry. They are one handed opening tools. They are meant to ride in your pocket with the pocket clip clipped on the outside of your pants. And make sure it's oriented the right way. Tip up or tip down and make sure the clip is on the right side for left or right hand carry. By that I mean the blade it's self that opens should be backed up against your pocket so it can't open out when in your pocket.

One of my favorite sd carry blades is my endurance wave, catches the pocket and opens while pulling out. Catch is you need to be careful when removing it to put away

I've also got a spyderco civilian that is massive but if I ever had to use it for defense it would seriously do some damage
