IL:In Chicago times may be a changing

CHL kills robber in Target parking lot.
I should wait before getting too happy. He may be charged with murder, we don't know yet.

The ABC news version of this story is not quite the same, but does mention that the incident started out as an armed robbery. This version of the story said the robbery victim drove away from the scene after the shooting and the police pulled him over and took him into custody.

Tribune version of the story emphasizes that the robbery victim is a IL-CCW permit holder and that the IL-CCW holder was defending himself. Both stories mention that dead man had been shot in the chest and back.

Having a hard time believing the CCW drew on a drawn gun from inside his vehicle at point blank and lived to tell about it ...
Re: IL:In Chicago times may be a changing
Why not?
Defenders are usually drawing from a disadvantage. Like this drive-thru robbery attempt: http://www.texaschlforum.com/viewtopic. ... 36&t=84086
Or with a gun to the head: http://www.texaschlforum.com/viewtopic. ... d#p1113539
also when I am reading stories from the OP, it appears there was a struggle over a gun first.

I read the report, didn't listen to/watch the news clip - was there something in the video that makes you think he may be charged with murder?

No, but it's not Texas, it's Chicago, where you can kidnap and torture a white disabled kid and get probation.Pariah3j wrote:I read the report, didn't listen to/watch the news clip - was there something in the video that makes you think he may be charged with murder?
To me his only hope he is the same race as the BG. Otherwise he is toast, especially if there is a back shot.
The fact he is a CHL probably makes it worse there as they probably want some bad statistics they can point to.

Re: IL:In Chicago times may be a changing
Consensus from the IL forum guys is that it may have been a drug deals gone bad, but the shooter has been released w/o bail. Papers are not running it either becasue it doesn't fit their agenda as a bad shoot from a CCL.
Will be interesting to watch.

If you're the victim, why leave afterwards?
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

I could see situations where the fear of retaliation would encourage a victim to leave the scene, and then call 911 from a safe place.C-dub wrote:If you're the victim, why leave afterwards?

IL forum guys say it was a dangerous area, and could've been other BGs around.Boxerrider wrote:I could see situations where the fear of retaliation would encourage a victim to leave the scene, and then call 911 from a safe place.C-dub wrote:If you're the victim, why leave afterwards?
