Carry at the Houston Marathon

#1

Post by locke_n_load »

I find it funny that the Houston marathon tries to ban carry at the event (I'm running tomorrow).

They don't give notice per 30.06/07 on their site, but even if they did, would not be valid on public property.

And yes, while it may be considered a professional sporting event, and Texas penal code states that you cannot carry on the "premises" of a professional sporting event, streets are specifically listed as areas that are not "premises".

Just funny to me.

Carry on.

I assume you're going to carry.

I hope you are anyway.

Remember, the Boston Marathon?

No, handguns wouldn't have helped, but who knows what the latest jihadist nitwit may come up with where being armed might be quite worthy...

Good luck with your times.

I could never do it under 3 hours, close, but no cigar.

Full or half?

I ran the full.

I would have carried, but I had only ran around 5-6 miles carrying my pistol, didn't want to try anything I hadn't done before.

Ran the full, a little over 4 hours. Last 8 miles got me (first half was 1:55).
