$950 MILLION in debt was not cause from a short term sales slump. They were clearly being miss managed for years.

I surely did enjoy the various 870's I've owned over the years. Pump guns that shot many living and clay targets. :nopity

Doesn't mean they are gone. They made some great shotguns (Versamax) and had some bad handgun decisions. Really messed up the Marlin brand. Time will tell.

The bankruptcy filing is Chapter 11, the company will reorganize and emerge from bankruptcy with a stronger balance sheet.

I wonder if part of the reason for the bankruptcy is to protect the company from judgments from potential lawsuits.

Quality went down the tube, they developed two flops for pistols (3 if you include them as the 1,000th gun maker to make 1911s) No surprise here.

If they can get out from under Freedom Group, they might have a chance to redeem their brand. This could end up being a good thing.

When I saw that Cerberus had been involved, I no longer questioned what had happened to them. An investment group that probably knows close to zero about firearms.

And publish an apology for purposely hiding their problems with the 700-series trigger for nearly 2 decades and how many unnecessary deaths...?

Poor management ruining an iconic brand. They can make it through the bankruptcy, but not doing business the way that they are. When I was a youngster, Remington was one of the first brands I thought of when the subject of rifles or shotguns came up. Now it is nowhere near the top of my list. I really hope that they bring in a new management team and reinvent themselves. There is way too much competition for anyone to produce a sub-par product, even an American Icon like Remington.
