CANCELLED! TexasCHLforum Day at PSC is cancelled
Late yesterday I learned that we do not have power at PSC Shooting Club and we likely won't have it for several weeks. A shooting range is a low priority customer and we understand. Without power, we have no lights or air conditioning for the classrooms, no computers for seminar presentations, no water (the range is on a well) so there are no working restrooms, and no power for our electric and electric/pneumatic target systems.
We will try to reschedule for Spring, 2009. If we are without power for weeks, then there is no reason to believe we would be ready on the 4th Saturday in October. The 4th Saturdays in Nov. and Dec. are too close to holidays, so those months won't work either.
We have not deposited any of the checks sent with registration forms. All of those will be shredded along with the registration forms. We considered trying to come up with a system to keep those forms so people wouldn't have to send in more, but that's not realistic.
On behalf of all of us on the TexasCHLforum Day team, I apologize for this cancellation and for any inconvenience this causes. If there was any reasonable way to put this event on, we would have done so.
Chas.

Charles,
Postponing the festivities until next year might be better timing for some of our members affected by the storm.
Thanks for your efforts as always.

We too feel like there may be a number of folks who would rather not do it in a week.anygunanywhere wrote:Charles,

Sorry to hear that.
Please know that we all appreciate the effort you (and others) made to arrange for this event. I know it was a lot of work and that you must be disappointed not to see it come to fruition.
Thanks Chas.!

It will make things easier on me for sure too. We still have a lot of clean up to do in folks pastrures & the large yards. Trees down that must be cut for firewood, fences repaired, well house or 2 & a few storage sheds.
well see yall on the date set.

Bummer!!!
But I also understand Gilhoolies didn't fare so well either so there went the oyster feast!
A big Thank You to all who worked so hard in planning this. Hopefully, we'll get together in the spring.

Re: CANCELLED! TexasCHLforum Day at PSC is cancelled
Texas CHL Forum Day is a valuable and, to my knowledge, unique event.
I'm disappointed of course, but I think that even if PSC were to get power early next week, Ike made the timing just too difficult for most people. For example, I'm supposed to be in Tyler today for a Suarez course; no way I could make it and instead I wait for insurance adjusters, roofers, and carpenters.
Charles said maybe in the spring, and I sure hope so. You folks on the planning committee have my commitment to volunteer for whatever is needed, no matter what the new date.

I too have been affected by the storm but was willing to try and make a go of the class just to get my mind off of everything, you know just do some blasting and training, but in retrospect it is better to move the class to another date and time.
The storm has made an impact on many of us down here on the coast especially those in Galveston.
I hope those on the island are safe and coming along well.
I still have no power here in TC/LM area and am using my BIL's compooter.

We had a foot and a half of water go through our Galveston cottage. Will be doing major cleanup starting Thursday and going through the weekend. I was going to have to pass on SO duties anyway.
Anyway, glad we are looking at a re-do next spring.

Re: CANCELLED! TexasCHLforum Day at PSC is cancelled
Due to the business I'm in, I've been working 12-14 hours every day since the storm. I sure didn't want this to be cancelled but now this is one less event I'll be missing! I would think everybody understands and we'll all look forward to a bigger and better Forum day next spring.
