It appears that Oct. 24th is the date. Charles, can you confirm that so I can change my vacation date.

Yep, October 24th is it for 2009. In 2010, it will move to the 4th Saturday in April.

Charles:
Maybe I missed it somewhere above, but what is the signup process for this event?

Will it be posted on this thread?

In what manner do we pay our fees, and to whom/what entity?

Will we be able to "open carry" at PSC during the event?

Do we bring our own ammo, or must we buy from PSC?

I'm looking forward to a 287 mile trip down to attend! (Thanks Mapquest)

Thanks for putting this great event together.

It looks like we all can put a real face with the screen names!!

I'll post a registration form toward the latter part of the summer. I have to line up instructors and do other planning that will effect the event schedule that goes on the registration form. I would like to have an online registration program installed by then, but that's probably not likely.

What about the condition of our firearms while in attendance? Do they have to stay concealed, are they not allowed to be carried around loaded, obviously open carry in my blackhawk retention holster would be the most comfortable for the duration of the day. ;-)

Club rules require a cold range; i.e. no loaded guns except on the firing line. There is an exception for CHLs. You can carry a hot gun if you keep it concealed. As a practical matter, anyone can do that, since no one checks to see if you have a CHL.

So open is okay as long as it's unloaded? Just trying to figure this out before hand and thanks for the replies Señor Cotton!

This really looks like a great event.. Shooting ranges in my area charge 130 dollars plus for this type of class.. This looks like one heck of a value.. Being from Dallas area Im hesitant to "commit" but this really seems like a great place to pick up some fantastic knowledge from like minded folks..

Thank You,

Eddie

The PSC Board has approved our request to waive the non-member fee for the 2009 TexasCHLforum Day at PSC, in an on-going effort by the Club to promote training and education in the safe use of firearms. While I am on the PSC Board, I was not at the Board meeting when this vote was taken. (I was at home nursing some kind of bug.) PSC gets a lot of requests for free range use and we cannot approve all, or even a significant portion, of them, without severely impacting our members' access to the range. However, we have a long history of supporting several law enforcement agencies in our area, as well as youth organizations like the Boy Scouts, 4-H and others.

Since the Board has waived the non-member fee, we are able to set the event fee at $15 per person. This will cover your catered lunch, plus about $3 toward the lunches we provide to the instructors and event staff. Every one of them donates their time and talents and the least we can do is feed them!

As noted in another post, I plan to post an event schedule in July or August and we will start taking registrations then. I have found a registration module that may work for us and if so, it will make registering much easier for everyone. You will be able to check the website to see what clinics, mini-clinics and seminars are still available, and you can register online and receive a confirmation. This beats the "manual" system we've been using, but only a little experimentation will tell if this is going to work for us.

If you would like to express your appreciation to the PSC Board for their support of this event, just send an email to Directors@psc-range.com

I'm not sure where I'll be as far as chemo in October, but I'd love to go. I seem to recall Mojo saying that it was a really good time, and I always enjoy spending time with other shooters...they just generally seem to be a nice group of folks!
