Re: Time to modernize qual - allow Red Dots

Sig sent me a free laser for my wife's P238 after they sent it to a gun shop Alaska in error after a repair (true story.) I really liked the laser for indoor training with the little Sig. I would compare my iron sight view with the laser. Eventually I developed pretty good muscle memory to get the S...

Re: solar grid tie with battery backup

Be aware of total cost of ownership, batteries have a finate lifespan. I investigated wind a few years ago and it was not feasible, not even close.

Re: Icom LMR - MDC 1200 programming help?

The actual ID has to be entered as a hexadecimal 'number', the 5020 series only has 5 alias entries available which I didn't realize. To step up to a bunch of alias IDs, the next series is almost twice as much as this one.

Re: Icom LMR - MDC 1200 programming help?

Thanks for the assistance, I was hoping that someone here has recent programming experience and knowledge about the Icom implementation of MDC functions. I'm aware of the features but not exactly sure about the programming specifics.

I do appreciate your time.

Icom LMR - MDC 1200 programming help?

This is a bit of an odd post but I'm hoping there is someone here that has experience programming Icom analog LMR radios (public safety & commercial Land Mobil Radio.) I set up a repeater for a friend's business and I have a talkie and a mobile radio programmed for the basic stuff - IC-F1000 ser...

Re: Alternate Comms

A good alternate form of communications would be UUCP. UUCP was used to distribute email and USENET newsgroups between computer systems long before the Internet existed. It is completely decentralized and would be very hard to shut down. Oh my goodness - haven't heard that in a long time - Unix to ...

Re: Now that we’re back....

I've been so busy and distracted with other things I haven't checked in here for maybe six weeks, I tried a couple of days ago and it was dead - I didn't know what to think but we've been having Internet problems. So I dismissed it as one of those cosmic things, delighted that all is well again. At ...

Re: PAR (Private Pilot Written) Exam Scheduled

I took an intensive weekend exam prep class and the last event was the written exam on Sunday at course end. The cram course worked well as I scored in the high 80s or low 90s. This was a long, long time ago, I have no idea if those are still available. I seriously doubt if I could have scored as we...
