Re: So...you didn’t get Stimulus check...

I just checked the IRS site and this time I got the message "We need more information" instead of the previous message "Status cannot be determined". So, I proceeded to provide the information requested; some data from my 2018 return (I haven't filed my 2019 return yet) and my banking information. W...

Re: So...you didn’t get Stimulus check...

For what it's worth, my experience mirrors TAM's almost exactly. Two daughters received theirs, nothing in my account, check IRS.gov and get exactly the same message as TAM. Follow up to "Why am I getting 'Payment Status Not Available'", totally unhelpful. Bank advises that it's finished processing ...

Re: Electricity Providers

My December electricity was 8.1 cents per KWh all in. Of that 2.4 was electricity, delivery was 4.5 cents the rest was fees and taxes. Apparently delivery and fees and taxes can vary depending on where you live. But yes 9 cents all in for three years is a great deal. I'm in the Oncor "TDU". The pub...

Re: Electricity Providers

the rate I previously quoted of 11.9 cents per KWh was the all in rate including all taxes and fees averaged over the entire year. Most of the time except in the afternoon the cost for the electricity by it self is like 1 to 2 cents a KWh. The rates on powertochoose are "all in". In the past, many ...

Re: Electricity Providers

My two year contract with Reliant is up for renewal in June. I currently pay just about 9 cents per kwh. If I renew, the rate goes to 12.5 cents. Meanwhile, a check of powertochoose.org reveals many plans available for just about 6 cents per kwh if you're willing to accept a 3 month contract. The ch...

Re: Corona Virus (COVID-19)( SARS-CoV-2) from China: Its going to be bad.

This has a potential to be far more damaging, on all fronts, if we don’t honker down for just few more weeks. Hunkering down is going to cause people to die -- unemployment, poverty, crime, etc., yet there is no consideration given to this by the experts promulgating policy. How many such deaths ar...

Re: WOW Laredo

Where I'm struggling is that if you're asymptomatic, then you're not coughing or sneezing. I get that if you're coughing and sneezing, you should wear a mask, but in that case, you have symptoms, and the "experts" have always said that if you have symptoms, you should wear a mask. I also don't get h...

Re: WOW Laredo

I'm struggling to understand how an asymptomatic person infects others, and how wearing a "mask" stops it.

Re: A little more of the NRA is being told

To my knowledge, all WSJ articles about the NRA and/or LaPierre are written by Mark Maremont. That speaks volumes. His articles are based on lies fed him by Ackerman McQueen, as noted in the pleading I attached to my prior posts. Chas. I went back and checked, and you're correct, Charles. The artic...

Re: A little more of the NRA is being told

As an NRA member, I continue to be hopeful that the full story can be told quickly. The Wall Street Journal published a story, updated 11/4/19, that suggests problems with "governance" at the NRA, including "lax controls on outside vendors". It seemed like balanced reporting to me, and the picture w...

Re: 1911 with a 10 rd magazine?

Thanks to everyone for the great feedback. I've got some more thinking to do. As I do that, here are a couple more thoughts to follow up on some of the feedback you've given me. I will look for a 5 inch barrel. My current EDC is a Sig P238 with a 3 inch barrel, and although it's a sweet shooting gun...

1911 with a 10 rd magazine?

Hi all, One of the local ranges has a pistol match from time to time. That sounds like fun to me so I checked into it. It turns out that you must have a pistol with at least a 10-round magazine to participate. My pistol has a 7 (+1) round capacity, so it doesn't meet the requirements. I'm thinking a...

Re: No place but Katy, Texas

This is sad, but it's not new, I'm afraid. I taught at the University of Minnesota just over 30 years ago and we had a similar situation there. In that case, we did not have a grade of F, but we had grades of D and N. N stood for no credit, but it didn't count against the student's GPA. As a faculty...

Re: Small victory in Illinois: FOID ruled unconstitutional

I lived in Illinois for 20 years before moving back to Texas, the FOID has been around a long time. This is another step to fully restoring the law abiding citizens of Illinois their 2A rights. My grandpa's FOID card expired in 1973, so FOID has been around in Illinois for almost 50 years. I'm real...

Re: Texas republican congressman calls for giving 16 year olds the vote.

Congressman Michael C. Burgess M.D., Republican, Texas is a prime example of what is wrong with the Republican Party. At least he doesn’t represent my part of Tarrant County. I wonder what the people who elected him think of his support for progressive socialist agenda He does represent my part of ...
